The area
Neighbourhood: Paseo del Prado
The area around the elegant Paseo del Prado boulevard is much-visited by both locals and tourists. The world-famous Prado, the Reina Sofia, and the Thyssen-Bornemisza museums form a triangle of art and culture that spans this grand and beautiful avenue. On weekdays, the Prado Museum opens its doors for free after-work hours, drawing a diverse and excited queue of art lovers that wraps around the block. Palacio de Cibeles and Círculo de Bellas Artes cultural centers are other artsy hangouts to check out, with rooftop bars that provide impressive views of the city. While the Paseo del Prado and its roundabouts form a busy throughway in Madrid, a broad green pedestrian park in the middle is a calm and gorgeous place for a relaxing stroll. Just east of the museums, the Retiro Park is always a confluence of activity as families and friends of all ages take to the pretty paths and lawns to stretch their legs or to have a picnic.

Madrid has to be one of the most beautiful city's in the world, been here many times over the many years I've been travelling and this city to me gets more enchanting with every visit.
An absolutely must go destination for me on any holiday I take here is Paseo De Prado which is a wonderful tree lined boulevard that runs on from Calle De Alcala to roughly down to Atocha Railway Station, its a very peaceful boulevard, there's great fountains to admire such as Cibeles Fountain, Neptuno Fountain and Fountain Of The Artichoke ,its a lovely walk with great looking buildings flanking this boulevard, if you're planning a holiday to Madrid its a boulevard to check out.

The Paseo del Prado is a lovely promenade between two great fountains: the Fuente de Neptuno and the Fuente de Cibeles. It is ideal for strolling around or just relaxing on a bench. The traffic and the pulsating metropolis seem so remote...

Halfway down the promenade, there is a surprising third harmonious little fountain, dedicated to the god Apollo and the four seasons!

I liked the fact that a narrow park exists between two sides of traffic on the boulevard. I was a nice walk from my hotel to the Prado Museum.

Is rather pleasant to walk the Paseo when moving around the museum “district”. Is the “third road” for walkers sandwiched between the two rather busy cars road. The trees are really magnificent and provide a well deserved shade…

This densely tree-lined, wide central avenue is a landmark in the city of Madrid and the location of some of the important cultural and tourist spots in the city. Primarily this includes the so-called Golden Triangle of Art, the three top Madrid art museums that can all be found off this avenue.
It’s a great way to get from the Fuente de Cibeles to the Fuente de Neptuno and then the Prado Museum or carry on to the Reina Sophia museum. But the main problem is that it is surrounded by the main Del Prado road, so you never escape the traffic noise and at some point you have no choice but to cross this busy road to get to where you are going.

It is a big wide avenue with a middle where you can also walk in the shade of trees.

It is not all that pretty and the cars drive quite fast. There were not many places to sit a look at pretty sight and study people walking by.

This is a Niobe place to walk a paseo as the Spanish do in the evenings. Lots of people out and good people watching. Runs in front of the Museo Del Prado

This lovely boulevard connects Madrid's best museums.
It's well worth a 10-minute stroll here, after a museum visit.

This is very much the cultural hub of the city. It is a long tree lined boulevard stretching foom Cibeles to Atocha and as well as many fine examples of architecture it contains the "big three" museums and galleries as well as some less well known. There are also fountains and statues to various artistic figures including Goya.Well worth not just one but two or three strolls as you will spot something new each time.
