So disappointed with how this square has changed. It was full of American chain restaurants or overpriced tourist shops, the nearby plaza oriente is worth a stroll around if you are in this area

We passed through here on a self guided walking tour and took a couple of photos of the statue of Queen Isabella II alongside the rear facade of the opera house where performances began during her reign (1830-1904).
