Overview

From 6 artist on stage: Two dancers with a singer, a guitarrist, percussion and a violin or flute. Since its beginnings, Flamenco has evolved in hidden places. It is danced and sung in private, in the presence of a select group of friends, without any amplification. Often, a brick cellar would be chosen, due to its wonderful acoustics. This is the authentic, unvarnished performance that we seek to recreate: a man and a woman dancing, a singer, a guitarist, a violin and percussion, sounds and shadows on ancient brick-lined cellar walls, all in a show lasting one hour. Welcome to Essential Flamenco.

Highly recommended! The dancers are exquisite, the guitars players skill is impressive, the percussionist is great, and the vocalist delivers the "wailing" character of the music with gusto. The setting is intimate and it is impossible to not be moved by the passion of the...More

Hello Evcka: "It's not a restaurant, no food served, no tables, it's purely dedicated to Flamenco dance and music". You go right to the point. We want to "serve" only pure flamenco music. This art doesn´t need to go accompanied with paella or any other...More

I enjoyed the show. You got to see a solo of each instrument player. The dancers were great. A drink is included with the ticket (Sangria or soda if you don't drink).

Hello 6faithe: "The dancers were great". Yes, our artistic director, El Mistela, is winner of The Flamenco National Critics Prize, and he, and his habitual "bailaora", were the dancers you saw. Thank you for your kind comment.

This was the only flamenco venue we visited in Madrid but it was as good as shows we have seen elsewhere in Spain. The club itself in the old town is atmospheric being below a small bar area, down in the cellar of the building....More
