We took a walk along the waterfront to view the various aspects of the harbour area. The cruise liner berth seems to be doing well with a different ship on each day we were here. Judging by the static cranes and empty berths, the freight berths don’t seem to be doing much however, and the fishing boat section looked both small and a bit sad.

That leaves the yacht marina that had a decent number of yachts berthed, but nothing to write home about, and my feeling was that if you like to visit ports that have lots going on - you best go somewhere else.

A really great, well positioned port for walking into the old city. The city is very beautiful and vibrant. There was an interesting local parade happening with vintage cars and locals in costume. Fabulous.

While looking at all my pictures from my cruise I remember having the great feeling while at this port, easy in and easy out is always the best for not only the cruise ship but more importantly is the guests, it was a easy walk through security and onto the walkway and was happy to see a Rotary emblem on the walkway and then took in a car show, the marina was a treat as well.

This is a pretty part of the harbor area just 5 minutes from the center of the city. It is full of pretty sailboats, yachts and "mega" yachts. While there we noticed a strange huge metal sailing ship in the port and were very curious as to what it was. I did some research and discovered it was the sailing yacht "A", the largest sailing yacht in the world. It was 468 feet in length and ship masts nearing 300 feet high. It was built for a Russian billionaire at a cost of $500 million. Very interesting and great photo opportunity.

Decided to visit Cartagena last week for a drive when family were visiting. We visited the port which was stunning, beautiful boats and military ships all docked around the large port, there are small tour guide boats to take you around and out of the port on to the open sea which last 45 minutes and only cost €6. Whilst wandering around we found some lovely restaurants on the water front that were offering good food at great prices from seafood to burgers, cocktails to coffees. A short walk across the road took us to streets lined with shops, boutique and high street. The architecture is stunning and worth a visit for that alone, the town hall was beautiful and steeped in history, with the narrow winding streets and historic buildings I can't recommend this enough if you fancy a lazy day strolling around in this beautiful city. So much more to see too!

We did an evening walk with our bicycle along the yacht port. The tranquility, the smell of the sea, a soft breese and spotting beautiful yachts was a good idea.

Aboard the cruise ship Tui Marella Spirit, we were in Cartagena for just one day.

We’d booked an excursion to a animal and water park in Murcia, so couldn’t spend much time at all in Cartagena.

What we could see, however, was a very well presented port area with lovely views of the town.

This is a very pleasant place for a walk along he promenade with good views out to sea and views of boats and yachts in the harbour.. The street which runs parallel with the front also has a very large underground car park which is a handy place to park to see the Yacht harbour and also to walk into central Cartagena which is close by.
