Housed in a former water-reservoir (look et the vaulted brick columns and ceiling repeating itself) this excellent museum seems to have been sited at the wrong end of town, although it is a nice walk down the Turia gardens from the city center. It gives an very full overview including short films (5 for each period) of the different periods... More

A hidden gem that relates the story of Valencia. Good fun, plan the visit with time because you might want to stay there to watch all the historic video clips.

The setting of the museum in the old underground reservoir is very atmospheric, and the displays have been put together with a lot of thought. There aren't a huge number of items on display but they have been cleverly arranged to tell Valencia's story through the ages. The short films (available in a variety of languages) set the scene for... More

We had to go to Mislata to find out more about Valencia's history. We went there on the last day and wished to have done that earlier. We visited the permanent exhibition with very nice exhibition of the different phases in the city's history. Nice lighting, informative content, relevant exhibits and overall a good visit. There was also a temporary... More

Visited the museum after getting off the tourist bus which stops very near. We had purchased a 72 hour tourist card and in the booklet we were given was a voucher for free entry. On arrival we were given a book that explained the 50 exhibits in English. There were some visual interactive exhibits as well. Wonderful building and the... More

Museum for history lovers with very good overview of Valencian history. Franco regime is also mentioned which is good. Exhibits are impressive and fascinating. Fact that museum shop was closed, is negative fact, but i strongly recommend it for visiting.

As others have commented, this a bit light on recent developments, but is interesting nevertheless. We particularly liked the old newsreels. Because of the lighting and the way some of the explanatory texts are displayed, it is sometimes hard to read them. An English summary can be borrowed from reception, but it is hard to read as the overall light... More

The history from 2000+ years ago until 200 years ago is impressive and fascinating. However i agree with some other people on here the more recent history is glossed over a bit. My grandmother is from Valencia and left Spain during franco's rule and i would have liked to have found out more about this time in Valencian history. I... More

This museum gets the basics right which many in Valencia falter, i.e. Chronological order and in English. It takes around 1.5 hours to go around and is presented in 50 chunks. In one way, the history being spread out evenly throughout the 50 chunks seems logical. However, as a race, we have progressed so much more in the last 200... More

This is a good place to start. A very interactive museum with things to get involved with and a little folder that has all the information about the mIn exhibit in other languages. I loved this museum because I love history and architecture and this told the story right from the beginning explaining all of its cultural, social and economical... More
