Get the no 24 bus to El palmar, not the no 25, as the 25 doesn't go there.
We got the no 25 bus from navarro reverto (behind courthouse) and went to stop embarcado de l'albufera to get a boat trip around the lake. Lucky we got off because it turned out the no 25 didn't go onto el palmar where we had booked a meal at Arroceria el Rek (see review.) Waited 20 minutes for the no 24 bus to take us the 4 miles there (too dangerous and long to walk along the road). There were loads of boat trips from El Palmar town, so I advise you to get the no 24 all the way to El palmar and do the boat trip and paella in one place!

    Beautiful sunset photo opportunity
We drove out of Valencia 90 mins before sunset, found ample parking (set satnav for Embarcador de l'Albufera) although traveling in this direction you have to drive past to the roundabout and then back on yourself. Beware it gets busy and there can be selfish groups that will stand in front of you to get their Instagramable photos. The sunset on a clear day is amazing and it turns the Lake golden as the sun sets. Do take repellent, some for the Instagram gangs too!

    Albufera - El Palmar experience
I went to El Palmar by no 24 bus which goes from the big roundabout Porto de la Mar, (Metro Colon) cost €1.50 and took 40 minutes. Get on here if you want to get a seat as many were standing after. Took a boat trip around the lake with Albumar boat tours, lake is lovely, came back through the mangroves, saw a few ducks and and egret. Nice and friendly boatman. Very relaxing. It is recommended to go at sunset which I am sure would be very beautiful if you can do it and you may see more birds in the evening too. Had a very delicious lunch at Planta Azul which is just next to where the boat goes from. Best Paella Valencia I have eaten on my holiday and the cheesecake desert was delicious. Excellent service. Then I visited one of the Barraca houses by the lake as you enter El Palmar. All in all, I had a lovely relaxing day.

Our planned day out at Albufera was a total farce. It took a while to work out how to get there by public transport, where the bus stops, how to get a ticket etc. Having sorted that out and spent 40 mins on the bus to get there, we arrived at the Interpretation centre at about 11.30 to be told it was full and they weren’t letting anyone else in for a least 40 minutes. So we thought we’d walk around the wetland area instead but there was no footpath, only the main road next to the traffic travelling at 60kph. We found one path which was barred by a padlocked gate. In the end we gave up and caught a bus back to the city. A complete waste of time. It might be lovely if you can actually get in!

I can only comment on the boat rides, which I recommend making a reservation for firsthand, but the views are beautiful and the sunset is one of the best I've ever seen! I recommend taking a boat tour with Manolo if he's around.

If you get tired at city, it would be good place to relax. It was short but very nice quiet experience.

We took a van to Albufera Lake and boarded a small boat exclusively for our tour group. Although the temperature at the time was warm, being out on the lake you are best to bring a windbreaker, as it gets a bit cool. This is a largest freshwater lake in Spain, that 300 species of birds take refuge here throughout the year. After the boat ride we toured an old fishing village, which was semi-interesting. I thought the boat tour, which was part of our premium inclusion, was a waste of time.

Not much shade if you go on a hot day. Time of year makes a big difference - nothing to see in June. Migration periods are best depending on what you want to see. Other 2 boats that went out with us both came back saying pilot/guide was totally disinterested. Only do it if you have spare time.

I was in Valencia for series of business meetings and as part of the entertainment for the participants, a trip to this National Park was organized. So I had the chance to see this place within that capacity.

I have confess when I first heard about it, I was not that thrilled of the idea as I was very tired but after having been there, I was happy not to have missed this opportunity: this is a very beautiful lagoon.

We went there by bus (organized by the meeting organization team) and it took around 30 minutes from downtown to there. We were a team of more than 20 people and we all fit in one single yet large boat. It was a simple yet comfortable boat but there is no tarpaulins or sunshades so in sunny summer days or in rainy days, you have to resort to your own means. The boat trip takes around 30 minutes during which the captain provides you with information about the lagoon and the environment.

This is a very relaxing, very nice boat trip. On top of it, you learn a lot about the place as well. So in case you have the chance to visit this place, do so and make sure to have a boat trip too.
