We rented a car and drove on our own without any issues. The coast is unbelievable with steep cliffs and towns nestled between the cliffs and the sea. We loved it! The road is steep, narrow, and winding. We made frequent stops to take in...More

The (in)famous Amalfi Coast. Talking numbers it is not that long a distance. But due to lots of winding turns and narrow streets through the towns it takes a while to do it. And of course the many many view points will slow you down...More

High up on the cliffs, with the Amalfi coast to your left this is an excellent drive. Best done from Amalfi to Positano

Beautiful views and places to stop, positano was my favourite. We stopped at Amalfi and ravello before repeating the drive back to Sorrento. Loads of places to eat, drink, take boat tours, shop etc. Best to sit on the right side of vehicle unless you...More

If you go from Sorrento to Amalfi, sit on the right. The views are spectacular. It’s not for the faint-hearted and you often wonder how two coaches get past each other on what appears to be a single track road (usually with a scooter squeezing...More

One has to just start driving on this road and keep driving. It delivers its promise. You should drive it at different times of the day and it will give you a different experience. I did 2 AM, 6 AM, 10 AM, 2 PM, 5...More

Driving the Amalfi coast is a bucket list item. We drove from Umbria to our hotel in Amalfi and braved the coast. The drive is narrow, winding and breathtaking! The views are incredible

On the advice of our B & B we booked on the sightseeing bus from Sorrento to Positano, then got the boat to Amalfi, and then the bus back from there to Sorrento. We were advised to sit on the RHS to see the best...More

We drove along this gorgeous road with a professional driver, and I can't imagine that anyone who is not experienced driving these winding, up and down roads could do it. While the views are spectacular, I wouldn't bother getting out of the car for any...More

I wouldn't drive it again. It may be beautiful coast but I'd say better seen from the water. I found the drive stressful and unpleasant & it was out of season. The roads are narrow and the roads bend and wind at every possible opportunity.

Our car was $37 a day plus we spent about $60 on gas. It's a good drive.

Driving is ok but it is very twisty and with coaches and cars parked it can be challenging. We used a driver as it wasn't too expensive and he knew where to take us for the views etc

Hi - That is a lot of driving but certainly you could accomplish all you want to see along the Amalfi Coast in two days before heading back up north. That should give you enough time to do all the other things you... More
