We rented a boat and toured the island of Capri. It was one of the highlights of our trip to Italy. We packed a cooler with water, snacks and a bottle of prosecco and enjoyed a day on the water at our pace. We had...More

This is the main landing location of all of the ferries etc coming into Capri so needless to say it's a busy place. Options to get up to Capri (the town) which sits well above the marina. (1) - inclined rail - the cheapest option,...More

I took this trip after thinking about all the options of exploring from Naples to Amalfi. Since I had only one day I decided to go ahead with Capri. Since today was high tide we couldn't enter the grotto but the boat tour around the...More

When the boat arrives from the mainland there are dozens of taxis and boat excursions vying for attention. It’s pleasant just to take a walk along the marina admiring the boats. Didn’t see any superyachts though. The marina is north-facing so it is a little...More

This is where you arrive on Capri and realise it is tourist hell, packed in with hundreds of others, you will be hassled by touts for the boat rides and waiters from the many restaurants. Before we visited we thought Capri would be classy and...More

Arrived to Marina Grande from Naples by a water jet. There are lots of restaurants and small shops. The funicular is there to go up to Capri as well as taxis or you can walk up. Easy access

We arrived to Capri by boat into this marina. The lighting in the morning was amazing and it looked gorgeous but it was so busy that we were not able to enjoy it. You have shops, coffee shops, restaurants, taxis, people offering all kind of...More

This is where you will disembark from the boat. It's lively and crowded but full of shops cafes restaurants and open topped large car taxis.

This is where the cross islands and mainland ferries docked, plus rental private boat to tour the island, and island taxi. Constant, high volume of people and transportation movement. Can’t imagine what the peak season will be.

We have friends who go from Positano to Capri and back so I'm sure you can do the opposite. I just googled how to rent a boat on Capri and the first site I chose does do private tours including to the Amalfi coast.
