Around the origin of our Catacombs much has been discussed, they were simpleburial and never were quarries or underground ways; the first note of the monumentis repeated since the death of St. Agrippino our bishop in the II century, when hisbody was buried there in a noble tomb. Many miracles the saint operated by thetomb, so it became a place of reverence and neapolitan wished to be buried in thatplace.

Fantastic history, well preserved and Myriam was knowledgeable as our tour guide and obviously passionate about history. It is cool underground so a jacket/longsleeves are advisable. It’s not a strenuous activity so sneakers aren’t compulsory and it’s fantastic to see it’s been made accessible for...More

My husband and I visited the catacombs of San Gennaro in Naples. it was an amazing visit. There are guided tours that are offered, with very informative tour guides, well-versed in English, with passion and enthusiasm eager to share the information about this historic site.

We both loved our tour of the catacombs and appreciated all the information these youth of Sanita provided and how they are helping restore their neighborhood which is absolutely captivating!

Learned a lot about the local area and the catacombs. Impressed by the fact that a group of locals keep the place open, and are still excavating. Was easier to navigate than I thought after taking the many steps to get to the actual entrance....More

This is unexpectedly vast underground network, and really interesting. A great tour guide brought the history to life. Ancient Christian remains. Very atmospheric. Explains why you see so many skulls and skeletons in artworks all over Naples.

I think that a "driveway" access has been recently implemented, maybe you should book in advance if you need of this facility. On the website they talk about a street level access.
