The castle dates to the 1500's but very little of what it once was remains. The entry hall has a nice partial fresco and the doors (complete with embedded cannon balls) are on display. Unfortunately, most the former spender has removed, destroyed or renovated years ago. When we went there was a display of historic/civic artwork and some saintly relic's... More

I left feeling deflated, as the castle once lit up on an evening looked very impressive, however during the day once inside there's very little to see (1 room with a glass floor, so you could see ruins of old building & a room with a dozen or so paintings that (some) appeared to have been vandalised or damaged in... Looks impressive from the outside but not worth the €6 to get in.. not much to see, only a couple of exhibition inside.

The are views of some of the harbour from the terraces but you only get a small window of sight.... and is it really a nice harbour anyway? The castle itself can only be called that for the exterior. There is barely anything from the castle left, with a tiny civic museum inside a few rooms you can only access... More

Castel Nuovo is an impressive fixture of the Napoli harbour. The evidence of attack on one of its outer walls spoke to its strength and history. The ornate entrance is beautiful and holds its own stories. Inside the Castel, for 3 euros, you can walk around some of the rooms and see the museo civico's offerings of sculpted busts and... More

Though stunningly imposing from the outside it has been left shockingly mistreated inside. The staff openly throw their ciggarettes into an already litter filled courtyard. Most of the areas are closed off despite being advertised as attractions. There are bags of rubbish and litter not only outside but also within. Having seen some of the best castles Italy has to... have been again at Maschio Angioino last December, it has been an amazing experience, this time was special because a local cultural association named "IVI" organised a 3D video tour, using "oled" glasses: it was like being in the past for real!

The castle is truly amazing and breathtaking when observing it from outside. Massive, beautiful and impressive it can really stun especially if you try to take some pictures of it on a sunny day. Unfortunately, that's where everything positive finishes. When you enter it offers nothing that can match the initial high expectations. There is a sort of municipality gallery,... More

We visited here while in for the day on a cruise ship. The outside of this Castel was really neat and great for photos. Upon entry, there is a small office where you can pay 6 euros to go inside - Definitely skip-able. Fee must be paid in cash and they were unwilling to break any bills, there were 5... More
