We visited catacombe di San Gennaro first, then proceeded to Catambe di San Gaudioso, bit south in Sanita District. You enter the catacombs through the church's crypt - guided tours only, starting inside the church on full hours. According to tradition, it is the burial...More

Gennaro seems to be more popular but Gaudiso is at least as interesting. And there are less people visiting with you. When you visit these catacombs you're also helping the local youth to employ themselves so it's for the good cause too.

Amazing story told by young volunteers and breathtaking experience. But don't forget to take something warm - jacket or sweater.

It is an absolute must for visitors to Naples. The ticket is valid for both San Gaudioso and San Gennaro catacombs and the two are very different. They are only a 10 minute walk from each other. San Gaudioso catacombes are located inside the Santa...More

Absolute underground treat - the tour was 9 euros but includes entrance to the larger Catacombs of San Gennaro (valid for up to a year). Worth every penny, the 17th century frescos are fantastic to see. I was cautious as I am a little claustrophobic...More

The guided tour above and below was absolutely fascinating. Also to realize that it is a group of young enthusiasts who are working to bring the history and the catacombs back to attention. You only pay one ticket and can use it at both sites....More
