On our last day in Naples, we took the funicular up up up the escarpment to the castle. It had been recommended to us for the views, and it didn't disappoint. The views from the battlements of Naples are just amazing - you can walk...More

This is probably the highest climb we did during our trip. The rain in Napoli did not deter us in climbing up those many hundred steps of cobbled stone to this Castle. Once on top you are greeted with many bazaar of original handcrafted Cameo...More

Saint Elmo's Castle is located at Via Tito Angelini, 22, 80129 Napoli. We made our way to the hilltop Castle by riding the funicular from Stazione Napoli Montesanto. The castle dates back to 1329 and was built by order of Charles of Anjou and is...More

Staggeringly beautiful 360 degree views high above Naples and across to Mount Vesuvius and Sorrento on one side and the island of Ischia on the other. The Fort itself is enormous. Well worth visiting.

On a clear day it's a must. It's not in the center on Napoli and you had to take the fanicular, and that walk up and climb to the top of the castle, but on a clear day, preferable not on a very hot day,...More

This castle is worth visiting for the views over the city and bay of Naples. We were there on a glorious morning and enjoyed walking along the battlements and enjoying the views. There was an exhibition of modern art going on also .

This place is not in the top of the places to visit in Naples and It's a shame. If you want to see and enjoy and amazing view of Naples, you have to expend a few hours here and just enjoy it.

Well worth the trip up to Vomero to get in to this castle for the great views - a nice area of Naples too

If you are around the "Vomero" neighborhood (very rich), you should definitely swing by this place in order to enjoy the castle it self and beautiful panoramic view of the wonderful city of Naples. Ask for "San Martino" and you will get there in no...More

I'm not sure because it's a no working day in Italy, but I guess so. Opening hours from 8.30am to 7.30 pm but the ticket shop closes at 6.30.
