first Sunday of the month is free to get in to admire outstanding views of the bay of Naples. Highly recommended and also a visit to the Certosa di San Martino nearby

This castle was really cool. There was a contemporary art thing but it was not the reason to go visit. The reason to go visit is the 360 degree view of the city of Naples. It is marvelous, from the water to the old city...More

We were in Naples for a cruise and had a little bit of time to explore the city. We saw a castle sitting on top of the major hill in the area and decided that it would be cool to walk to it. It was...More

You can get to the castle either by taking the funicular or the monumental stairs...the stairs are more rewarding but it was good to take the funicular down. Great views and interesting architecture and buildings. This is one of those times when the Neapolitan lack...More

Didn’t have it on my plan originally but saw the great fortress on top of the hill and had some time to kill so I went for it. There must be a bus or some other transport that can take you there but I just...More

This is the main reason you go there. You get smashing panorama over Naples towards Vesuvius, sea and islands. Castle itself is not striking - thick walls, nice gate but not much to see inside apart from some art exhibitions. Ticket is EUR 5 (you...More

We went here to get out of the city a bit, and it was a nice view over the bay. We wandered around the walls, but beyond that, there is not much else to do. There is some art inside, but nothing spectacular. We also...More

We visited this castle on our last morning in Napes. I really couldn't tell you anything about the structure itself; but just go for the view. You can access the castle by taking a funicular up to the top of the hill from one of...More

It is a bit steep to come up here but there is also an elevator. Especially useful for little kids and strollers. Unfortunately it was too foggy and we could only see the silhouette of the Vesuvius. But the city and the see were clearer.

I'm not sure because it's a no working day in Italy, but I guess so. Opening hours from 8.30am to 7.30 pm but the ticket shop closes at 6.30.
