First the place is huge. There are very long, rocky streets that you need to walk through. Second, we only got to see like 3 human bodies and 1 what seemed to be a dog. There were more bodies in the storage but they were not on display. Overall its a good place to visit. There were some very ancient... More

My husband and I visited the ruin of Pompeii with a cruise ship excursion group. We had docked in Naples and first gone to Mt. Vesuvius (which I also highly recommend), so we were only there for a little over two hours. I had heard about Pompeii since I was young and always found it fascinating and had always wanted... November was a great time to visit with mild weather and smaller crowds. I was impressed with how much there was to see and how it is kept. It was well worth the day out!

So growing up and reading about Pompeii in class, I thought it wasn't all that big. Looking at the map I was thinking we could see most of it in a day. Hahaha that just isn't feasible. This place is gigantic! We started off at the main entrance closest to the train station. The first few sections on the map... More

When I walked through the caves and listened to the tour guide, I imagined the stories, the people, the town, the experience. This tour shows you how fragile life is and how everything has an expiration date.

Allow a whole day. Dont bother hiring a guide they are very dear and you would be rushed. just use the audio. Buy a ticket... More

Worth a visit but hard on tne feet so wear good shoes. We took a guided tour buying tickets as we got off the train from Torre Del Greco .I t was worth it as if left to our own devices we would have missed a lot. We were a bit annoyed that having paid the guide didn't worry about... More

I was not prepared to see Pompeii. Not that I hadn't read about it. I had. I wasn't prepared for what is is: a place completely buried by the fury of Vesuvius. I was disturbed by the place. It is not that the ruins are bad or anything. I just think that I wasn't prepared for what It represents. So,... More
