We travelled by train from Sorrento to Pompei, which was packed. We joined a group with a guide, but now I wish we had hired the headsets as we could have gone round more at our own pace. Make sure you wear flat shoes as...More

Every year, some two million people visit the ruins of Roman Pompei. They come and go and that’s a pity because the city has much more to offer. Compared to Napoli, Pompei is clean and less hectic. The centre is dominated by the Beata Vergine...More

It is unbelievable to that this civilization existed 2000 years ago, the attention to detail was amazing. The white Stones in the roads which were used as cat eyes. The site is amazing and best to take a guide. Some sad sites as well.

There is so much to see in this area, 79 AD when Vesuvius erupted and buried an entire city of industrious citizens, senators, and slaves. So much history... a definite must see.

Took excursion from cruise ship, very long line up to get in, only had 1 hr. 45 min. to literally run around, only saw maybe a 1/3. Would go back and spend a whole day and would pay to skip the line.

This is a very nicely preserved place. It is better to hire the guide to understand history of this place.

We all know the tragic history of Pompeii but you'll never fully understand unless you go there. When you go there, you'll see the human bodies turned into ashes and you'll be shocked by thinking how big and dangerous the mother nature can be.

They have 3 of the original plaster body casts on display we remember seeing in books but most of the artifacts have been moved to the archaeology museum in Naples. Pompei (moderna) Pompei (moderna) is a world heritage site with a bone chilling history that...More

I think that you would be much better going by train since a taxi would be very expensive
