This was my second trip to Pompeii, and by far the most enjoyable. My first trip, I tried to see EVERYTHING and only ended up exhausted, moody, and overwhelmed. Remember, Pompeii is a well-preserved major ancient city—a CITY! It is large. You can easily walk...More

Went with the family during August 16, a little disappointed in that some parts had been closed off, it does take a while to get round, try and see when slightly overcast.

It was great to be here but the center was being set up for an event and was full of concert audio visual equipment which ruined photo ops and felt a little weird to see.

The forum is part of Pompeii and as such is full of history. It is in quite good order considering it was ‘almost’ destroyed nearly 2000 years ago by the volcano that lurks ominously in the distance.

Pass the 2 hour line at the Colosseum and wait 10 min to get your tickets for both here. Spend an hour here to see the ruins of the Roman Empire, then walk across and get into a much shorter line for the Colosseum.

This place is unbelieveable. We have been a few times now and every time we go, there is something new to see. Well worth the visit.

We were very impressed by the whole visit to Pompeii and the forum is really impressive. I believe it's worth paying for a good guide as there are so many details you can miss without guidance.

Walking through Pompei with a guide is a wonderful experience, learning about history and ancient civilization culture. Best to wear running shoes or something similar and to bring your own water. Three hour tour just scratches the surface.

It's a very big site so wear good comfy sensible shoes and take water to drink. Very interesting and a great insight into Roman times

We did a Pompeii group tour today however I left feeling pretty disappointed. The main reason I wanted to see Pompeii was the famous villas and plaster casts. We basically walked around the streets and saw the main areas like the forum, brothel, some restaurants and the basilica etc but none of the really special buildings. Villa of the Mysteries the amphitheater, Casa del Menandro, House of the Vettii etc and we saw 3 plaster casts in some museum? With a whole bunch of clay pots and junk in it, 1 was a baby, 1 an adult and the 3rd a dog. I was expecting many more plaster casts like I've seen in pictures (I even watched some guy on youtube wondering around a year ago who found a large area with many plaster casts yet this wasnt on an actual paid tour? Was it just that the tour was crap or can you not see any of the good stuff anymore?

All the really good artifacts are in the National Archaeological Museum of Naples, although we saw some really good frescos on our tour. They should have built a museum on site so the tours could combined that with their... More
