You enter this temple from the side door at first you do not realise it is a temple but then the vista opens out into a large courtyard. I visited when the sun was just going down behind the columns...

The Temple of Apollo dates back to the 2nd century BC. The sacred area was originally surrounded by a portico supported by 48 ionic columns.

It is more than picture worthy and it is the easiest to visit inside the ruins. Get out your camera and take a fe pics as the ruins are very cool. It's close to the entrance so you have no excuse.

The temple of Apollo is impressive in size and beautiful architecture. Even in his ruins it can be seen how well the construction was built thousands of years ago.

You go past this on your way out of the complex, so take time to check the views and remains of the temple. A great vantage point for an important god of that time.

This section of the Temple of Apollo is near the main entrance into Pompeii. The scenic grounds of large pillars, assorted buildings and vast area is pretty big. It is hard to visualize what this area must've looked like prior to the destruction of Pompeii.

This was more what we expected to see and we could feel the force of the destruction which took place and still appreciate the ancient temple.

This place is located within the main complex and although some of the pillars have unfortunately been victim to the volcano eruption. It still stands.
