Our tour of Rome could not have been better. I booked the tour through trip advisor. The company was Private Tour of Rome. I dealt with Paula who was very helpful. Our guide was Tomasso and he was wonderful! He knew everything about the ancient ruins. He was so much fun and so friendly. He made the trip that much... More

This tour was amazing. We met our very friendly tour guide Giulia on time where she said she will meet us. Very informative, professional but also comfortable to listen to her. Very interesting and really make this private tour with a 2 year old really pleasant. I can definitely recommend this tour - specially with Giulia. It is a lot... More

Tom was our guide and he was absolutely fantastic. He was not overwhelming with too many facts, yet he was very knowledgeable and telling us about the history in and about Rome. We walked at a decent pace but there didn't feel to be any pressure or time constraints. We also had a delicious lunch at a local trattoria and... More

My husband and I toured the Vatican yesterday and we have never experienced a guided tour done as well as this one! Niccolò is not just well versed in all-things about the Vatican, but his knowledge about the history of Rome and Italy were by far, the best thing about this tour! If you ever go to Rome, you need... Had a lovely morning visiting the Colosseum and its surroundings with our guide Fabiola. She did a fantastic job of sharing the history of the sites we visited and was a lovely guide. Fabiola also tried her best in entertaining my kids. I'm glad I found Paula through trip advisor and highly recommend using their services.

If you want to tour Rome with someone who will make you feel like he's a long lost friend or relative that is taking you around the city, then Luca is the guy! Our family of five toured two days in Rome with Luca. He was informative beyond measure. Seemed to know everything about everything and how it was linked... More

We could not have been happier with our private tour of the Colosseum, and with our guide Francesca. She provided amazing insight---from her background in art history and archeology---and her English was impeccable. We also had a really fun time!

We were extremely pleased with our tour of the Vatican and especially with Paula as our guide. She is very knowledgeable and was easily able to answer any of our questions. Due to the incredible size and quantity of artwork it simply would not have been possible for us to appreciate all the rich history without Paula's guidance and insight.... More

We booked with Private Tours based on other Trip Advisor reviews and were not disappointed. Our Colosseum guide, Luca, was knowledgeable and funny. He kept our 11 and 13 year old children highly engaged in the 3 hour tour of the Colosseum, Palatine and Forum. He showed us photos that helped us envision what the ruins may have looked like... From the minute I spoke to Paula on the phone, I knew I would book our tours with Private Tour of Rome. Paula was so helpful and provided superior customer service. She responded very quickly via phone and email and planned every detail of our tours, including the purchase of our tickets and our trip was last minute, so all... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
