Terrific customer service and terrific tours. I corresponded with WIR for several months ahead of a March 2024 trip to Rome, discussing options for various tours, and they were always responsive, polite, informative, flexible, and helpful. Ultimately we booked two tours: a private early morning tour for 8 persons for the Vatican museums and St. Peter's (3 hours, kid-friendly) and a private 4 person Caravaggio painting workshop. Both were excellent. The tour guide for the Vatican museums and St. Peters spoke excellent English and was magnificent with the kids, helping to guide us through an incredibly crowded, hectic museum environment while also introducing, explaining, and contextualizing the museum and key pieces. She had just the right touch in knowing how much information the kids could absorb, and she was terrific in St. Peter's, as well. Later, our tour guide for the Caravaggio workshop was so lovely, connecting wonderfully with the whole family. It was one of the highlights of our trip.
I would 100% recommend WIR to anyone else visiting Rome, either for the first time or for a repeat visit.

Our full day Private driver (Gabrielle) and Guide (Francesca) were amazing. The Tour started at the Pier - Ship pick up with Gabrielle sharing his knowledge of the surrounding area on the drive to Rome. Francesca is so knowledgeable and experienced; she offered time to see so much of the sites we wished to visit and even more. The crowds were massive, but her knowledge allowed us to by-pass huge lines with more time to witness the antiquities, Colosseum, Forum, Panthéon, Piazza Navona, Vatican City. Walks Inside Rome is by far a leader in Touring in Italy.

We did the learn to row like a gondolier venice activity, which was a very impressive collaboration between row venice and walks inside Rome. Our guide Elena, a local Venetian legend, was great with our 13 year old son. She taught him and me the basics of rowing a gondola and we rowed down many beautiful untrafficked canals. Elena then dropped us off in front of a great place for late afternoon appetizers and drinks, which were included . This adventure was a true highlight of our trip to Italy

We did a full day private tour (4 of us). We were picked up at our hotel right on time and started at the Coliseum with the underground included. When we were dropped off at the Coliseum we were greeted by our tour guide, Marina. She was amazing! She led us around the underground, explaining all the areas and giving us details of the life of a gladiator. We then toured the upper portion of the Coliseum. She knew all the places to take great photos where there weren’t a lot of people. We then went to the Forum and learned even more about life in Ancient Rome. She then took us to a wonderful little restaurant for lunch, off the beaten path so not many tourists. Our driver then picked us up and took us to the Vatican where we toured the museum, Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s Basillica. Again Marina was amazing! Unbeknownst to the rest of us, one of the people in our group tried to stump her with questions and she always knew the answer. At the end of the day the driver picked us up and took us back to the hotel. Amazing day!!

We have done several tours with Walks Inside Rome over the years and each one has been fantastic. This year we took the Ostia Antica tour with fabulous guide, Barbara. She was so passionate about the site and Roman history. In 20+ years of visiting Rome I’ve never had the history all brought together the way she did. Throughout the tour we learned so much about Ostia and life there, but she also taught us how to read the symbolism and the colors in Roman art wherever we find it so we can understand more. She took extra time with us, seeing how enthralled we were with everything. I wish I could give this tour and Barbara more than 5 stars, because it truly exceeded any expectation. My husband works in logistics and he had always wanted to see this. After years of waiting, we felt we not only saw Ostia, but experienced it and we’re able to step into Roman life for a little while that morning. Barbara also pointed out the charming borgo inside the castle walls right outside the archaeological site. We had a wonderful meal in the peaceful place, surrounded by smiles and flowers. It was an unforgettable day that I would recommend to anyone. If the crowds of the city are too much for you, go to Ostia and you’ll experience a city incredibly preserved with wildflowers growing amid its ruins. Highly, highly recommend!!

It has been a great experience working this group from beginning to end. The customer service was excellent in terms of efficiency and results. They helped with restaurant reservations, and securing the booking snd making the payment easy and painless. Our guide L’aura was simply the best. The fact we were visiting the Jewish Quarter on Shabbat was very special. She brought the history of the Jewish neighborhood to life, reliving even the horrors of the war. The visit to the synagogues was amazing, the interiors breathtaking. It was certainly the highlight of this visit to Rome.

The street murals of San Lorenzo and the stories of what they represent fascinated me as we walked through this alternative Roman art district toward the studios of artists—a painter, sculptor, potter, printmaker. I felt privileged to be able to ask the artists questions about their work & process via simultaneous translation by the brilliant artist/organizer Alessandro. We then visited one of the district’s galleries and topped off this extraordinary art experience with an aperitivo! Highly recommended for art connoisseurs.

We did the Private tour of Villa D'Este and Villa Adriana in Tivoli. The driver picked us up from the hotel in Rome and drove to the Villa Adriana, where our guide, Barbara, met us. Thoroughly versed in ancient history and art history, she was a lively and fascinating guide. Never exhausting or boring, always good company, Barbara clearly loves what she does, sharing her knowledge of Rome and environs and deepening the appreciation of discerning travelers who want to learn about what they see. She was a good sport, because it was a windy rainy day, not ideal for a long day outdoors! I would definitely hire her again.

Luca was a fantastic guide; really knowledgable and friendly. He was adept at making sure everything we saw and sampled was something we were interested in, and he clearly knew his stuff. I recommend this wholeheartedly- just make sure you do it hungry! We ate a lot!

I took two tours with Walks in Italy - one of the Classic tours- Palestine Hill and Coliseum with Franca and the Vatican and Sistine chapel with Antonietta. Both were absolutely fantastic. Both guides have an Enormous wealth of knowledge and a sincere desire to show everything there is to see. Front of the line is such a treat too. Absolutely 5 ⭐️. I just did the tours earlier this week and have recommended them to over 10 people. Can't wait to return and try the other tours. This is the only way to see Rome!!!

They definitely do small group tours. We did one private and then got lucky with our second one which wound up being private too. I don't remember the cost, but in my opinion I thought it was a reasonable price. They are great!

I can highly recommend the Colosseum with Underground Small Group Tour. It will keep teenage boys interested and they'll even learn something. Try to book with guide Salvatore.
