It was one of the objectives I had set for the visit to Rome. Quite far away from the center of the city, and there is only one bus that gets you there, but we found it and we had an English speaking guide to...More

A bit out of the way, this tour was both informative and impressive. Definitely a cool option on a hot day in Rome.

Tours run based on your spoken language. The tour guide was very informative, knowledgeable, and interesting (i.e., he didn't ramble on and on but gave pertinent facts). Its most notable feature is that it houses Bernini's (the famous artist behind St. Peter's Cathedral) last work...More

Visited here as a trip out of the busy city streets of Rome. Entry is €8 per person which includes a guided tour in your language. You have to have a tour due to the nature of the catacombs. They are made up of three...More

This church and catacombs is probably not as good as Saint Calista's which is down the road a bit, and if I had the choice I would choose the latter. However, there's a great museum here if you have a lot of time to read...More

Travelling here along the Via Appia Antica is an experience in itself, rattling along in the bus along the cobbles, through arches and past Roman ruins. You have to take the guided tour, costing 8 euros. Our guide was clear, informative and prepared to answer...More

My boyfriend and I walked along Apian Way in the heat and when we realised the catacombs were close we made a bee line for it. It is walkable with fountains along the way but in hindsight it would have been better getting the bus....More

From memory, we took a bus too. It stops directly outside the catacombs. Only thing to factor in is the frequency- make sure you plan your trip around the return times. This is the definitely the cheapest option, but very... More
