Where else would you see four fountains on each corner of a very busy and rather small street intersection! We were happy we visited- had to as it was so close to our hotel, but would have been ok if we missed it. An interesting experience - taking photos between the many tour buses that whizzed by as their passengers... More

In the olden days when there was not as much traffic, there would have been more space to admire the way Borromini fitted in a small church and four fountains at the first crossroads out of town from what was the Pope`s summer residence at the Quirinale. Lovingly restored last year, the roar of traffic and the crowds trying to... More

Its really a weird but nice place. I believe this was a great square with a fountain at its centre before the roads cross this place. There is a nice view of the place from far away and nice view from this place to other place of rome

You will most likely discover this by chance, but is it is a lovely sight to view the four detailed fountains on the four corners of this narrow intersection. Don’t miss the Baroque church around the corner – we missed it and will have to go back! Apparently beautiful and not the norm. Enjoy Roma!

Not a destination in itself but still quite fascinating to see, if you happen to be walking past on your way to the Santa Maria Maggiore Basilica. Four intricate fountains built on four corners of a narrow crossing.

Beautiful like almost every other sight in Rome, just walk through the old city and you can cover all the sights within 2 days

We had an outstanding lunch. The service was quick and professional, but the food was absolutely unforgettable!! I'm celiac and vegan and the chef Aldo Baglioni arranged for me an incredible risotto with zucchini flowers and pistachios in asparagus broth. I absolutely loved it!! My family also loved their food, a traditional cacio and pepper pasta and trofie pasta with... More

found this by accident as i was lost & trying to find my way to piazza barberini. did not even know about the amazing intersection. there is a fountain on each corner, apparently built into the sides of the buildings. each is very detailed, different and lovely. definitely walk over from nearby if you have the time. be careful trying... If you happen to be walking this way stop and take a look. Not worth going out of your way for. They are beautiful but are set on a busy junction which really taints the experience.

The 4 fountains are OK, but nothing compared to the ones in Trevi, Popoli, or Piazza Navona. If your on your way to some other sites, feel free to take a few minutes to see it in person, but if there's nothing on your itinerary close by then don't bother.

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
