Fine works of art. Plenty of history inside. Many special chapels, such as the one with some satued by michelangelo, the chapel where the original st sebastian church was built, and the one where the opera tisca first scene is held. Two popes tombs and...More

The interior of this church is incredibly ornate, we actually got strained necks from looking up at the amazing art, it is easy to spend an hour here walking around just taking it all in. Definitely a must see just for the sheer opulence alone

We randomly walked by this church and decided to check it out. It did not disappoint. It has the second largest dome after St Peter’s and around the top there is a golden mosaic Worth going inside if you are in the area. You won’t...More

Near the Vittoriano, this basilica is - as so many other churches - larger than it seems. Rather empty, despite size and location, it gives some sense of peace. The ceilings are beautifully painted, so is the cupola with statues in between, hanging from their...More

This enormous church is right in the centre of the Centro Storico on the Corso Vittorio Emanuele II. Consequently if you do not seek it out specifically, it is very much worth visiting if you are passing. It is often noted as being the setting...More

There are so many large, beautiful churches in Rome ( locals say there are more churches than Catholics) that it is hard to rave about one that doesn't have its own Bernini, Caravaggio, or Michelangelo connection, but this one is a beauty. Best known as...More

We came across Basilica de Sant'Andrea della Valle by chance, while on our way to another site. We went in and we found it very impressive. The ceiling and particularly, the dome, is magnificent. The whole church is quite lovely and we would recommend a...More
