We stayed at an Airbnb nearby and had to buy some meats before returning home. Popped into this gem of a place. The gentleman behind the counter was so accommodating. Because we fully looked and sounded like tourists, he offered to vacume pack and portion what we bought so that it will last the travel and storage when we were home. Bothered to explain the different thyeoa of meats how they tasted etc. If you're a novice Italian tourists like us, this is one shop you can stop by to buy traditional italiam cured meats to be packed home. BTW, they also have a restro down the road called Secondo Tradizion which serve bloody awesome food. Highly recommended.

For some reason, this shop wasn't even listed on Trip Advisor, but travelers should know about it. It's a salumeria...they sell prepared meats, cheese, and wines, along with related food items. The selection is amazing! A huge range of cheeses (yes, they will let you sample), all manner of sausages and salamis--and the wine! It's arranged by region, which makes sense, since wines from various states/regions of Italy is quite different. Prices are very fair, and at least some of the staff really knows their stock (which is huge). Only a few speak English, but between them and my broken Italian, we had no problem communicating. All the staff are friendly and helpful.
We just spent a week in a Roman apartment, cooking in most nights (eating out for lunch), and most of our dinners were centered on food from La Tradizione. It's located just across from the Cipro exit on the Metro (that's one of two for the Vatican on the Red Line). If you have any interest in Italian foods, you owe it to yourself to visit La Tradizione! A very good website. Don't know if I can post it here, but Google "La Tradizione, Rome, via Cipro"

I guess I was a bit skeptical, but had to check out this shop since it was recommended and had some great reviews. Really glad i took the trip, you also get to visit a less touristy part of the city as a bonus.

They have a great selection of italian produce, but also some french cheeses and pata negra. The staff were welcoming and helpful. One of them spoke english, explained about the products and gave recommendations. Everything i bought was vacuumpacked, a great plus, and most importantly tasted amazing.

Highly recommended.

This is a high-quality, high-service gourmet shop for cheeses, meats, freshly-made salads, pastas, seafood, wine and more. Let Jean-Paulo be your guide. He'll interview you, asking about your food/flavor preferences, make some recommendations and invite you to taste, while he explains how each item is prepared, aged, etc. Jean-Paulo spent about 45 minutes with us during each visit. There's a large, expert staff in this small shop. Tastings are encouraged and each customer is treated with great care and attention.

This is a neighborhood just east of the Vatican. Here, we found restaurants to be very touristy and not all that good. While wandering away from the Vatican in search of a good restaurant, we stumbled onto this block, which in addition to LaTradizione houses several bakeries and food shops. This is where the locals shop and eat. We were the only tourists in the shop during both our visits.

On our first visit, Jean Paulo recommended cheeses, salads, wine that we took home to enjoy. Be sure to get some of the homemade crackers. They are delicious! The red cow Parmesan cheese is absolutely amazing! In truth, everything we bought - including the Taurasi wine he recommended was fabulous.

We returned to the shop on our last day in Rome. Jean Paolo vacuum-packed several kilos of cheese, as well as sun-dried tomatoes and wine for us to take home. Rather than waste money on touristy t-shirts and chotchkies, we gifted our friends and family with authentic Italian foods. The best gifts ever!

Note: La Tradizione is not easy to find. Little in Rome is, since maps offer only the most general idea of the landscape! This particular block of Via Cipro is completely missing on three of the maps we had. The La Tradizione website has a reasonable map, but I'd suggest not torturing yourself. Grab a cab. The ride is just a few Euro from the Vatican museum. But, where ever you're coming from, La Tradizione is definitely worth a visit!

It's even better than Roscioli. Friendly atmosphere, almost all locals, fantastic selection of cold cuts and cheese. You can try everything if you want...
Very near Cipro metro station, so it's very easy to find. You have a Pizzarium nearby for a quick bite if you want.

Cheeses, sausages, prepared foods and pastas—all excellent. Patient service when you need an explanation of a seasonal or regional special (there are many). Easy access across Cipro station.

La Tradizione has a massive selection of the finest cured meats, conserves, preserves, some prepared foods, and cheeses in Rome, with a most helpful and knowledgeable staff. I recommend.

Located near the Cipro station. Staff was super accomodating. Good knowledge about products in store. Explained and gave a lot of free tastings for selection. They vacuum pack whatever portion bought. Must visit.

We visited several places on The Roman Food Tour . This outlet was sooh like those set up in the suburb of Carlton , Melbourne , Australia in the 1950s. The produce looked delicious, the variety of food for sale and the very warm welcome we received, and the samples we were offered were very FINE FARE indeed .
