The Foro di Cesare (or Forum Iulium or Forum Julium, Forum Caesaris) dates back to 46BC. That's more than 2000 years of history looking at you.

Even though a lot is in ruins, there is indeed a lot to see still. Thought originally to be an expansion of the Forum Romanum this place later on had two additional purposes: a place for public business that was related to the Senate in addition to a shrine for Caesar himself.

It's a really impressive sight and must have been breathtaking back in its day. Well, it still IS to this day.
And then there you also got the Chiesa Santi Luca e Martina martiri, the Curia Iulia, the Chiesa di San Giuseppe dei Falegnami, the Largo Romolo e Remo, the Tempio di Venere Genitrice, the Tempio della Pace and the Statua di Cesare of the man himself on site. A very rewarding visit. Especially if you have the time to get to know the history and background a bit. Be it by book, by the plaques around the site or by a guided tour.

Surely a must-do when in Rome.

I was trying to figure out how I missed this, but I didn’t. I walked by it after Trajan’s Market and didn’t notice it. You can see there are only 3 columns remaining. I think the time of Julius Caesar and Cicero must have been when the citizens of Rome started realizing there was something better than barbarism going on. I think Cicero was an orator that caused Ancient Rome to think: we can be civilized and not barbaric. After Julius Caesar conquered some of the Germanic tribes and returned to cross The Rubicon into Rome, I would have been happy to have been privy to the arguments that played out between Cicero and Julius Caesar. Look hard for this one. If you blink, you’ll miss it!

We booked tickets online for this light show at Caesars Forum. We read the TripAdvisor reviews and chose our tour based on feedback from fellow travellers.
Our confirmation email stated to meet at the bottom of Trajan’s Column at 10pm. However, when we arrived at 9.57pm, we were told we were too late and we had missed the tour (despite already paying for the tickets). At 10.01pm when she had found our tickets, she told us we were too late.
Just a note to other travellers to arrive early.
A subsequent tour we did commenced at 10.12pm when it was advertised to leave at 10.20pm.

We visited the FORUM DI CESARE last night and it was an amazing surprise for us and our two children (10-13 yo). I regret not having bought the combined ticket assuming that the children would have had enough after the first forum. Everything was spectacular: the location, the lights, the text and the speaker’s ability to recreate the ambience of the old Rome. It is a must for every tourist and local. Well done! I run seminars about Italy in London and I am happy to introduce this visit as the best one you can do in Rome!

My rendezvous with Foto Di Cesare or Caesar's Forum began the moment I saw the sound and light show being organized over there along with the same in Augustus's Forum . As compared to the latter where they take you back in time while you are seated the organizers literally take you amidst the Caesar's Forum where you witness the glory of Julius Caesar and Rome during his time while walking all the time . In short it is walking tour plus sound & light show which is a must to do thing whenever you are in Rome . The quality of information and presentation style truly transports you back into time and gives wings of visualization to you for imagining how pristine Rome must have been like . The entry to this activity begins from Trajan's column and ends at the Imperial Forum dedicated to Julius Caesar . A Must recommended and not to be missed activity for history buffs and travelers on a journey in Rome .

I loved all of the forums in Rome. Foro di Cesare (Caesar's Forum) was the least impressive as there wasn't much to see; however, when my friend and I were looking at it late in the evening, an Italian "security guard" approaches us as we were the only people in the area and pointed out a ruin and told us that it was a former house of Caesar's! That's what made it special for us :) As it is so very close to the Roman Forum (a few blocks away, if you look down, you will find that you are looking down on the entire Roman Forum!)

This was an auto walking tour through the ruins. We were given headsets which provided some information on what the different ruins were back in the time. A bit better then Augusto because it was more interactive, but I was expecting a better presentation with the lights and narration.

We spent 50 fascinating minutes following the audio guide and projections bringing the bricks, pillars and alcoves to life. Tastefully done bringing out many aspects of this part of ancient Rome. Unhurried and informative.

The Forum of Caesar is split in half thanks to the Via Di Fori Imperiale, but both halves can be experience in the Sound and Light show that runs during summer months. You pass in the ruins themselves, through to strategic points where lights project onto the ruins. Of course you can enjoy the ruins yourself with no cost...currently free to explore
