We toured the Vatican with Green Tours. They are pretty well organized for the amount of chaos at the entrance. The guide was long on personality and pretty sound when he was on script. Impromptu however, things slipped, and became non responsive when it came to questions. See them as insurance in getting through the maze, but less than completely informative.

Went by coach and high speed ferry to Ile of Capri. Did some shopping, small bus top of hill (lunch only so-so) kind gentleman bought my delicious limoncello. (Would b good over ice cream!). Took a fast boat tour of part of Capri. Unfortunately the Blue Grotto was closed that day due to rough seas. Hey, if the rowers of... More

Took the night Tour. Was awful from start to finish. Couldn't understand the narrator much...sounded very muddled. The seats in this bus were very close together- if you are taller than 5'7" you will be squished by the seat in front of you. Commentator(s) there were two, speaking English, French and, I believe a slovak language. Often the bus was... More

We found out about the tour from our hotel in downtown Rome. The pamphlet was nice and had several offers. We choose the Imperial Rome afternoon tours. All was arranged with the front desk. The tour company picked us up on time. The bus collected others and took us to the main office. Those who had not yet paid, could... More

Take the imperial Rome afternoon tour. Great to know the history of what you're seeing. Giorgio loves to share his knowledge and passion for Rome. No long lines to get into sites. Comfortable transportation.

Green tours are great for getting around and seeing all the sights, all day ticket allows you to hop on and off at whichever sights you want, the only disadvantage is that the traffic during peak hours can cause a lot of delays compared to the metro

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
