A monument to the wife of one of Italy’s founding fathers, Guiseppe Garibaldi. If Anita Garibaldi was anything like her monument, she must have been formidable indeed. She rides a rearing horse, a pistol in one hand, an infant in the other – and sidesaddle, no less!

From Trastevere to the Gianicolo hill where the monument of A. Garibaldi is placed view a spectacular view over Rome. Visit the place in the afternoon, where the sun will let you have excellent opportunities for selfies with Rome in the background

The Monumento ad Anita Garibaldi was a beautiful area of Rome with a spectacular overlook of the city. It featured panoramic views with all of Rome laid out and a quiet and shady park area. Definitely a must visit.

The bronze equestrian statue of Anita Garibaldi is located in Gianicolo Hill. The monument stands some 100 metres away from her husband Giuseppe Garibaldi's monument. From here stunning views of Rome can be seen.

Giuseppe Garibaldi's wife Anita, who fought alongside him, is also honored with an equestrian statue. Created in 1932 by Mario Rutelli, the statue depicts Anita Garibaldi in a pure Wild West style. She sits astride on a prancing horse with a pistol in her right hand while holding her newborn child in her other hand.
The two Garibaldi statues are a mere one hundred meters apart with the Viale aldo Fabrizi connecting the couple. The area between the two monuments is littered with 84 busts that honor Italian patriots.

Just a bit north of the big monument in honour of Guiseppe Garibaldi there is also a memorial to his wife Anita Garibaldi. And that is nice because her person and history is interesting. One of Garibaldi's comrades described Anita as "an amalgam of two elemental forces…the strength and courage of a man and the charm and tenderness of a woman, manifested by the daring and vigour with which she had brandished her sword and the beautiful oval of her face that trimmed the softness of her extraordinary eyes."

Located on the Janiculum, the monument is the work of the artist Mario Rutelli in 1931, after numerous trials and rejected projects by other sculptors. It needs to be more cared for as it is left to itself a little.

Probably many don't even notice but on one side of the sculpture, you can see a dying Anita supported by Garibaldi himself! The fighting Anita with her horse running wildly and her gun drawn is certainly more striking at first glance! But in practice this sculpture actually commemorates the death of this Italian historical figure! However, passing through the Janiculum you will certainly notice it! Good luck to you people of TripAdvisor.

A tribute in memory of Anita Garibaldi, wife of Giuseppe and historical heroine.
A bewitching and evocative bronze statue.
Holding a gun in one hand and a child on the other hand.
The statue has been renovated several times and is definitely worth a visit!
