Consorzio airport shuttle: one bad, one good experience.
Jan. 2020
We had a mixed experience with this company.
1. Our return transfer from our hotel in Rome to the airport was excellent! 5 STARS. The driver was on time, helped us with our luggage, communicated effectively, drove safely and dropped us off at the correct location etc.
2. Our initial transfer from Rome airport to our hotel was atrocious. NEGATIVE 5 STARS. The driver was standing very far out of the way when we exited the airport, I suspect he wanted to pretend we didn't show and just leave. He made us walk very far to the outskirts of the airport where he had parked... I did have moments of questioning whether he was actually who he said he was, but I think he was trying to avoid paying parking fees?... he was a grumpy and rude man, did not help with our luggage and I have no idea why someone like him is in the service industry.

Unfortunately our poor and unprofessional experience with this driver outweighed the positive experience we had with the other driver and as such I would not use this company again and I would not recommend it to anyone. I have been trying to contact wotif/expedia to tell them they need to offer more transfer options or at-least provide ratings of the company on offer.

I had to wait for an hour upon my arrival in Rome to be taken to the airport because this people wait to fill the van. But the worst was the day I was to be picked up at my hotel to return to the US and they left me stranded in the hotel. I had to call a taxi when I had already had paid for the shuttle service roundrip. Very bad service!!!

Reckless and unsafe driving
Jan. 2019 • Family
We booked the airport shuttle both ways, and to be honest the trip to the Hotel was fine and uneventful. We were fortunate enough to be the only passengers. However, on the way to the airport we were picked up and the driver then proceeded to pick up 3 other couples from various hotels. There was a couple seated in the front with the driver, and the man began to distract the driver by firstly talking to him, and then when he received a call on his mobile he became agitated and handed the phone to the driver, who took it whilst driving. Then, to my horror, the male passenger handed the driver a piece of paper which he then proceeded to read! He was driving at speed with a concrete barrier on his left, and he was reading from a piece of paper. I shouted at him to drive and not to read, and he stopped immediately. I have never felt such danger with a driver before in my life. I sent an email to complain once at the airport, but to date have received no reply. I will make sure never to use this company ever again. Furthermore they demand you confirm the return journey and the telephone number never work so you have to email or go through expedia. Not impressed.......

Excellent shuttle service

I booked my shuttle airport hotel transfers on line with Rome Airport Shuttle some months back with confirmation that the driver will be waiting for me with my arrival flight details i provided at the time .

My flight from Nice , France to Rome FCO airport was delayed by over 1 and half hours and I emailed Rome Airport shuttle and advised accordingly.

They replied back noting of the new amended arrival time.

Once landed and bags collected, i came out of the terminal and saw a gentleman holding a clip board with my name printed on it..
A bit of a walk to the car and we commenced the drive to my hotel located within the tourist precinct near the Trevi Fountain.

The driver was very animated and pointed out the sights along the way which was very pleasant and made the trip feel a lot quicker. His English was fair but he was easy to understand and always apologized if he got his words wrong. Replying back with a few words of Italian i felt was the least i could do.

I was collected and returned to the airport in a black Mercedes Benz “E” class sedan which was very clean.

I understand that you have the choice of sedans or van style transport.

The cost is E45.00 each way.

Highly recommended and would use them again when returning to Rome.

Be booked via Expedia, I was really impressed. I emailed them directly after having booked with our flight numbers and exact arrival/departure times (as there was only the option to book half hour intervals for arrivals/departures on the expedia website).

They emailed me back strightaway confirming they would ensure all the systems had the correct info and even send me a screen shot so I knew when they were picking us up to return us to the airport.

When we arrived we were greeted by a gentleman who arranged for our Driver to come and meet us and help us make our way to the Car (a Mercedes E-Class!!). On the day we left another gentleman came to our hotel to collect us and again was in a nice Mercedes car.

My husband was so impressed with how efficient this company was - definite value for money as I paid approx £75.00 for transfers to and from the hotel in central Rome - we heard stories of people being ripped off at the Airport paying €100 approx for a Taxi into Rome!!

We booked a car from the airport to the hotel and for the return journey. We also booked them to take us to the six nations rugby match and again, to bring us back. We had great drivers who were very polite and knew their way around. The cars were always punctual and we had no problems whatsoever. A great service.

Consorzio Airport Shuttle a.k.a.
Consorzio airport shuttle, a.k.a., at Fiumicino (Rome) airport sent us a no show and left us stranded on November 7, 2017, They claimed the driver had waited until 19:45. We arrived at the exit at 19:40 – but no driver holding up a sign with our name on it was in sight. The driver probably lied about the time he was there until, and probably found other passengers/suckers to take to Rome. Consorzio a.k.a., has an escape clause on the Expedia voucher saying the driver would wait one "Cinderella" hour from the time the plane landed. Considering the size of the airport and the inefficiency of some of the services such as baggage retrieval, this IS A RIDICULOUS requirement. They also told us we should have called them if we were exceeding the one Cinderella hour. We did not turn on our stop watches as we went from the plane, to a bus, to passport control, and then to baggage retrieval. Consorzio airport shuttle, a.k.a., at Fiumicino (Rome) did not provide a toll free number so that we could call them via Skype. Our home country phone plan does not allow for calls abroad. We always reactivate our Italian phone cards the day after we arrive. My email was open on wifi. If they were able to send me a no show and I was able to answer them by email, why didn't they send an email well before the Cinderella hour just to ask where we were? We paid Expedia in advance for the purpose of reaching our hotel. Consorzio airport shuttle, a.k.a., at Fiumicino (Rome) exploited us. We paid Expedia for this service and then paid again at the airport when Consorzio put us on a shuttle for 45 euros - and not a private transfer. We paid TWICE. Is this some kind of scam or trick which Consorzio airport shuttle, a.k.a., at Fiumicino (Rome) plays on other tired tourists arriving at the airport? We were told to stand aside and wait for a private transfer. In the end we found out this was another lie, and they put us on a shuttle which was not comfortable for 74 year old passengers. In addition to their other methods of exploitation, we learned that other passengers on the shuttle paid 20 euros per person while the driver demanded 22.50 euros from each of us (45 for the 2 of us). Expedia tried to help us obtain a refund, but Consorzio airport shuttle, a.k.a., at Fiumicino (Rome) absolutely refused. Expedia claimed that this company was only a vendor listed on their site, and that Expedia was obliged to follow the one hour escape clause. Surely Expedia receives a commission from Consorzio for each ride paid for on their site. Why does Expedia allow this unscrupulous company to even be listed on their site? This can only mean a bad business practice on the part of Expedia. In the past, we had been customers with over the course of many years and used both their airport shuttle and private transfer. I had spoken a few times on the phone with Giorgio (whose position at the company I am unfamiliar with.) We travel to Italy twice a year, but Giorgio and his fellow exploiters at Consorzio airport shuttle, a.k.a., at Fiumicino (Rome) have unfortunately lost our business. I hope those who read this entry will be forewarned.

Consorzio Rome airport shuttle

Found our driver fairly easily by following the instructions on our expedia voucher. Short wait for remaining passengers then short walk to bus. Helpful driver and only four drops.
Confirmed return easily by phone with English speaking operator. Bus arrived on time. Only three pick ups and arrived at airport in good time for flight. Overall a very good experience.

Best Shuttle Experience
May 2017 • Couples
This company did an amazing job for us. The drivers were waiting for us upon arrival, as promised, and even though they did not speak much English, we had no problems communicating with them. We booked a private car so we did not have to wait. They drove us quickly and efficiently to Civitivicchia for our cruise. We booked a return shuttle for disembarkation but were off the ship earlier than expected. The same 2 drivers were waiting for another passenger who did not show up for them. They remembered us, they called their office, and a woman there told us those 2 drivers would take us to a B & B we had booked (1 hour earlier than planned). Again, a very efficient quick trip right to the door of our B & B. We were very happy with their service.

Don't use them. You could easily stand around with your luggage and exhaustion for over an hour to get assigned to a van and then walk forever and then take an hour or more to get to you hotel. Take a cab! It's quicker and more comfortable and only a little more.
