Probably the most famous chapel in the world because of its incredible artwork, notably "The Last Judgment," Michelangelo's stunning fresco covering 10,000 square feet of the ceiling and wall.

This made the crowds worthwhile. To see the amazing beauty all around you in the chapel. Life changing.

WoW! Pictures cannot convey how large this place was. There were very few pews. It was very crowded too. Guards tried to keep people quiet. The ceiling is amazing. The stories that our guide told us about all the paintings was very interesting.

This was possibly highlight of the tour, which included the Vatican & Museum, & St Peter's Basilica. Small group as promised. Excellent tour guide, Pamen, who professionally kept us highly attentive with a fasinating commentary on the Sistine Chapel's paintings, before entering. Allowed a much...More

Stating the obvious - this is a must do if you have any interest in religion, renaissance art, or history. Having a guide that was able to show us pictures of what we would see was very helpful, given how tall the ceiling is and...More

Whereas in the rest of the museum you can spread out the Sistine Chapel is a bottleneck and we queued to get in and were feeling a little like cattle when we got in there. It's amazing but if you want to relax and take...More

We were complete amazed by the beauty and scale of the chapel. It's truly a wonder to see, and worth spending a long time looking at all the different elements of the paintings. Felt a bit dizzy after but worth every minute!

We visited the Sistine Chapel during our Europe tour in 2015. You can tie up with one of the tours which are everywhere outside the walls of the vatican. Most of them offer similar service. We took one of those tours, not exactly sure the...More

Amazing art work. Huge paintings. Worth finding out about the different parts of the painting before you enter so you can look at all of the details. You have to be silent in here however there were groups of people chatting and the police have...More

Hello If I visit the sistine Chapel first and then the museum, how far will it be from the entrance? Is there any direct entrance to the Sistine Chapel? If I visit the sistine chapel first, will the museum be nearer or the Basillica? If I visit the Basillica after Sistine Chapel, will I h allowed to enter the museum afterwards? Thanks

I would contact What a Life Tours and they will arrange any tour you want. We (6 friends) had the best tour guide, Grant, and would highly recommend him, but, from reviews I read on their site, they have many excellent... More

I used the original Vatican website - Trip Advisor won't let me submit with the link (?), but the web address was Biglietteria Musei- has English translation. Ticket purchase was fast and easy. Enjoy - I loved it.

Hello, We are going to be visiting the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel on a Friday in June. We are trying to decide between a mid-afternoon reservation (which we heard sometimes has slightly less crowds) or a night time reservation. Which time has the chance of being less crowded? And more importantly, does the night time hour affect the lighting and viewing of the Sistine Chapel? Thanks in advance for your help!
