This grand and magnificent square has retained its classical beauty and serves as the place from which the masses receive the Pope's weekly blessing.

The place is breathing-taking. You can just sit outside and enjoy everything that reaches your eyes. Although this place is always full-pack, you can always find tranquility on every view and pillars you see. Beware of the pick-pocketers, our tour guide said; just remain vigilant...More

This is the Catholic center of the world and here pilgrims, nuns, Catholic priests are mixed with tourists, believers and generally curious as well as those who only happen to be residents nearby. A constant spectacle is taking place in this place and on sundays...More

Be sure to wear a hat and sunscreen as it can be hot and sunny, but you can definitely get some great panoramic pics. As an iconic part of the Vatican it is a must and the best part it is free!

The architecture has to be seen. Standing in the middle of the square you feel part of the history itself. On a Wednesday I understand the Pope conducts a service. Go for it.

Words escape me on what to type. Been here several times, every time though is magic. You cannot go past this as one of the greatest structures in the world. Enjoy.

This is a bustling area with lots of souvenir shops & snack shops nearby. People trying to incessantly sell you selfie sticks and strange toots stand around the perimeter.

St Peter's Square in the heart of the Vatican City is a large open space which is impressive in a rather solemn type of way. One does not feel able to relax there as much as perhaps one does elsewhere in Rome.

Are there any places to sit in St. Peter's Square?
23 April 2017|
Response from Karin W | Reviewed this property |
Not that I saw. As I think about it, I don't remember seeing anyone sitting. There are no benches. I don't think you can even sit on the edge of the fountain. It's kind of a take pictures spot. There are cafes right before... More
is there a dress code to enter St. Peter's Square?
30 March 2017|
Response from Augustsunflower | Reviewed this property |
The square is open to the streets/public if not blocked off for an event so no dress code. If you wish to do Vatican tours it's likely best to have shoulders covered and no short shorts/skirts.
