This is according to me is the main attraction of Basilica Di San Pietro. Beautiful sculpture and very interesting given it's history and all the stories surrounding this magnificent piece of art.

It's easy to miss this if you weren't looking for it as it is tucked away in a corner. If unsure, just look for where there a lot of tourists taking photos. It's probaby there.

Words fail me. Lovely art that is a must see! Take your time around it and take many pictures from different angles. You will want to see this later.

Solemn and sensual, beautiful and eternally tragic! A masterpiece of faith, hope and human spirit. Unfortunately, it is protected by bullet-proof glass from insane vandals.

Visually stunning. Too bad it is now protected by a bullet proof acrylic glass panel. Michaelangelo is a true genius and master designer/sculptor.

Just after entering the St. Peter's Basilica, on your right you will see a sculpture of the Madonna cradling her lost son. This is The famous Michelangelo's Pieta .You can pick up of a post card of the sculpture in the Vatican post office nearby and send it to your loved one by post.

I've seen a bunch of different iterations of this so it was cool to see the original. It's inside St. Peter's on the right side as you enter through the front door. It's now behind bullet proof glass since some one tried to destroy it a few years ago.

So much passion evoked from a single sculpture - worth seeing and admiring for as long as you would like.
