In April we alimony had this place to ourselves, quite sublime. The entrance is a little hidden and we had to ask for a map, which rally could have been handed out when we purchased our ticket, but once inside ... those Dukes knew how to live. There is a famous painting The Mute by Raphael that we sat and... More

My wife and I stayed in Albergo San Domenico, which is right across the Piazza from Palazzo Ducale in Urbino. The hotel is supposed to be a 4 star hotel, but it does not merit that high standing. The Palazzo is an imposing building which has now become a Museum. The stars of the art collection are a small portrait... More

I recently spent a winter morning exploring the collection in the Palazzo Ducale. A beautiful fortress filled with the history of the Montefeltro family. Note: Freezing cold in winter!!

The Palazzo Ducale is a wonderful experience. Twenty eight years in the making. Fascinating and don't miss the downstairs. Art work wonderful a must for fans of Piero della Francesca.

A MUST if you visit Urbino! Most impressive the grandeur of the place, amazing paintings in Galleria, hard to believe so many of these paintings especially the Piero della Francesco Flagellation done so long ago. Amongst all the rooms in the palace the Studiolo with wooden panels magnificent, such detailed work. Could imagine the Duke walking round this palace! Great... More

My husband and I toured the Palazzo Ducale in July on a rainy day. The palazzo is enormous and filled with architectural and artistic treasures. We spent a couple of hours (and lost each other for about 30 minutes!) and felt like we had traveled back in time, seeing a fascinating history. It was a perfect way to spend an... More

I wouldn't spare positive words on this also not being the appropriate tool however I may just say some place are worth to explore, smell and taste in order to capture a little of inspiration where history was made particularly in Renaissance time. As always booking a tour guide is recommended. Personally I went there bearing in mind the "Flagellazione... More

We went to Urbino principally to tour the Ducal Palace. While it has an amazing history, it can be confusing (we spent some time finding the actual entrance after buying our tickets), and is not particularly friendly to English-speaking tourists; while there were many signs in English, there were many other places where they would have been welcome, and the... We went on a shore excursion from Ancona to Urbino and the Palazzo Ducale and had a wonderful tour around here. The drive up to Urbino was also lovely and if you haven't seen the Italian countryside around Urbino then you are in for a treat. The town of Urbino is rather dirty and there is lots of graffiti there... More

The building has been restored and is very interesting, the collection consists of many art works from the period but not much more in the way of furnishings or period artifacts. It's worth a visit, and the views from the upper levels are very scenic.
