We had a look inside here after queing and then a security check, we did not explore the whole Basilica as some areas have a charge, and these charges can mount up., but what we did view was outstanding.

A place for those, religious or not, to visit when in this beautiful city. The external views are disappointing but the inside is worth spending time within.

It’s one of the things you have to pass by so if you do stop and take a deep breath. Enjoy the view sulk in everything you see and if possible take a photo.

Cathedral is the dominant building on Piazza Maggiore. They were building it for centuries and it is still unfinished. It is a combination of Gothic and later periods. Main entrance is known work of art but it is hard to see it from the distance....More

Very well worth visiting here. A truly stunning church. Good to see meridian line on the floor made by Domenico Cassini. Lots of history to see here.

Doesn't look much from the outside but inside, it is beautiful. Well worth a visit and try to do either a guided tour or use the audio guide. It has some very interesting items inside - sure to interest anyone who loves art and history....More

An incomplete Church as politics dictated that building work stopped so as not to overtake in grandeur the cathedral in Rome. Most intriguing is the sundial that stretches along floor of eastern aisle.

The basilica is huge with ceilings that are 130ft (45m) y’all. Seeing the astrological timeline to track days of the year, running through the floor was also very interesting. Great to go and see the 10th largest church in the world, and the largest constructed...More

I really liked the church and the meridian runs across it. WOW! Entry is free. If you wish to photograph, you must pay too. (They provide you with an orange band.) I was intrigued by the paintings mentioned in the audio guide and when I...More

Impressive because of the scale. San Petronio is the largest brick church in the world and largest by volume of space - or something similar. Once inside the volume of the cathedral with its soaring height makes it a worthwhile stop. Added benefit: you can...More
