Yes I was a bit disappointed because nevertheless the concept is very good (mixing restaurants and food shop) I found the Mercato a bit claustrophobic. Is a rather small area cramped with places…I can just dread how the place will be in full touristic season!!!

This place is such a gem of a find. We were able to try so many of Bologna’s famous delicacies all in one spot, and for really affordable prices too. I really liked how I was able to grab a glass of red for 5-6 euros and enjoy it with our meal. If you’re tired of running around Bologna trying to sample classic dishes, then this place would be ideal. Situated really close to Eataly where you can shop for some artisan groceries on the way out.

We came here just after lunch time and it was still super busy! There is a market selling lots of fruit and veg and a handful of food stands.

We got a ham and cheese pastry which was really tasty, and we also went with a pasta dish.

The pasta is cooked fresh while you wait, so there is a bit of a wait, especially if it’s busy! But it’s worth it as it’s really tasty, bit more expensive than the other restaurants but not completely unreasonable.

We also had drinks, because what’s pasta without aperol spritz!

Like many other food markets around Europe, this trendy food hall, though not as big as others - is colorful, lively, noisy and can get crowded . But if your are in need of a quick bite'n'beer/wine - Mercato di Mezzo will do the trick for you . Recommended.

I was very surprised how small it was! After seeing the posted pictures, I was expecting a larger place and more opportunities to order some special food to have an idea what was available in Bologna! Leave it that it was disappointing!

We came in for a wine and stayed for dinner. Lots of choice and easy to find a seat as it’s very casual. Very good prices for such a central location.

I visited this food market as I had seen reviews saying it is the best in Italy. That isn’t the case it’s not in the same league as Florence.

It would say it’s worth taking the train to Florence and visiting their food hall/market it is much better and all least 10 times the size.

It was nice to have an easy, self-service meal at Mercato di Mezzo during our visit in Bologna. Lots of beautifully presented and freshly made dishes. There were tables inside and outside the food hall and a bathroom. A craft brewery in the basement. We arrived while shops were just opening. Perhaps it was a bad time to disturb the workers so we did receive a bit of some unfriendly services but we understand that people are allowed to have bad days. Overall, great area inside Quadrilatero with delicious food. Be prepared there will be random people asking for money if you sit outside. It happened to us twice. Enjoy your visit!

Ever since Medieval times, this market hall has been a place of flavors, encounters, trade, and gastronomic tradition.

After the redevelopment in 2014, it is now a place where one can purchase or eat food and wine products and delicacies.

The place was too noisy and chaotic for us. We want to eat in a calmer atmosphere. However, it was worth a short visit to see what they were selling.
