The Monastery built by the Dukes of Milan Visconti family. Now belongs to the University of Parma. Houses one of the best exhibitions that I have seen lately..

It's amazing how a small town like Parma can offer interesting monuments to visit. I would recommend the locals and visitors to add this place in their itinerary.

Even though the "Charterhouse of Parma" is still closed to the public, you can see it standing proudly in the open fields outside of Paradigna, only a few miles from central Parma. The restoration by the University is clearly well underway. All the windows are new and the brick of the building and its tower are in excellent shape. One... More

My husband, the opera fan, wanted to see "The Charterhouse of Parma" of Stendahl fame, but it is currently undergoing restoration (? modification) to become part of the University of Parma, so you can not get close to it. It's an imposing Cistercian-looking structure in the middle of a large empty field. You can see it clearly from the highway,... More
