Some specialist say it is like the Palazzo Farnese in Piacenza. The only common thing is that both are huge, large and high rooms. The palace itself is nothing to see, but the museums are great.

The theater apart, this palace is not very interesting. The exhibitions do not have a lot to present. For that reason is suppose you have to go through them first before entering the theater.

Palazzo della Pilotta is a complex of buildings, home to the Teatro Farnese and museums. It doesn't look like a palace from the outside but this designation is probably due to the immense size of the structure.

The Palazzo della Pilotta is amazingly intricate in its decoration and different from many other palaces in Parma. Well worth a visit.

We went to visit this huge brick ex Farnese family palace on the first Sunday of the month and found it was free entry that day! We found the art gallery unexciting with one good Correggio and one good Parmagianino. The archaeological museum was something...More
