Beautiful building Teatro Comunale Alighieri is located in the historic center of Ravenna. Teatro Comunale Alighieri is an opera house, it is designed by the Venetian architects, Tommaso Meduna and his brother Giambattista, who had designed Gran Teatro La Fenice in Venice after the fire of 1836. The cornerstone of the theatre was laid in 1840. Construction ended in 1852. The Teatro Comunale was named in honor and memory, by the famous poet, Dante Aligheri, who had been exiled from Florence and then he was spent the last four years of his life in Ravenna. Reflecting the style of the Venetian brothers, the exterior of the Alighieri is neo-classical with a four ionic columns and a portico with statues of four Muses. The interior is beautiful with 118 loggia in four tiers plus a gallery, the auditorium was constructed in the traditional horseshoe shape with 830 seats. The inauguration took place on May 15, 1852 with "Roberto il diavolo" by Giacomo Meyerbeer, directed by Giovanni Nostini, followed by the dance "La zingara", with the étoile August Maywood. The famous operas by Giacomo Puccini, Giuseppe Verdi, Gioachino Rossini, Domenico Donizzeti followed. Also on the stage of the theater performed the famous musical personalities such as Alfred Cortot, Nathan Milstein, Andrés Segovia, Maria Callas ,Riccardo Muti...... An nice building with a beautiful and interesting history.

The interior of this opera house harks back to earlier times of opera house design. It is in the traditional U-shape but Instead of staggered tiers one above the other the tiers here go straight up and consist entirely of boxes. It is beautifully decorated and takes you back to a time when the opera house was a place to see and be see. I was lucky that there were performances whiles I was in Ravenna and I saw a production of The Merry Widow from Budapest performed in Hungarian with Italian surtitles. If you are interested in theatre I would recommend that you make every effort to visit this opera house.

Very bad experience. Spent 71 euros in the audience. We were moved to a place where we didn't see, me holding my son in my arms, nothing. Then our seats were given to other people. No one intends to take responsibility or even remedy it in any way. Congratulations. Don't buy tickets in the audience because you won't see anything.

We went for a violin concert. Classic building with fine interiors, located in the city center, with some parking problems to keep in mind
