Several of the original Roman pillars are visible at the front of the church. The entrance door is framed by a Roman stone carving. The front face of the church has two partially visible cannon balls embedded in the stone facade, remnants from when Napoleon...More

We visited here with Demian Sem from Istranka Tours. Dem provided the interesting information around the history of this area and the building. We did not go in but I would've love to have gone up the tower, but we didn't have time.

I thought the tower even more interesting than the main cathedral as it clearly betrays Roman origins

Very interesting cathedral perched on the hilltop overlooking Trieste. Take a taxi to the church and save your energy for site seeing. The mosaics inside were amazing. A must see in Trieste. It is a short walk down the hill to Teatro Romano.

Perched way above the town, this church is a must see and well worth the climb through the winding streets. Inside, there are several different styles and eras of decor and the mosaics are particularly worth seeking out.

This was our first entree into Italy and it was perfect. This church is actually three churches that have been joined together over time. The mosaic depicting Our Lady of the Assumption and Saint Just is beautiful. Outside is a memorial to World War I...More

San Giusto is a really pretty Cathedral with a lovely plaza in front with an array of columns and excavated ruins from times of yore. It's a lovely walk from the town centre and a really pleasant, peaceful place to sit and relax. The interior...More

From the castle that is just next to this cathedral, you have an amazing view of Trieste from a high place. I love the views from the top and I think is another must see place in Trieste.

With so many churches and cathedrals to choose from in Italy, I would save my church-quotient for a more magnificent or artistic church...unless you happen to be in the area. There are one or two pieces of art worth a look.
