I didn't go much close but the waters and the city looked amazing from the road above. There are many parking spots and stopover places on the road that follows the Trieste coastline. The views are amazing from here.

This bay is a surprise. It keeps special beuty: colorful water, interesting castles and palaces near the sea, with a seaside resort and interestnig people. You can meet Italians and some Slovene speaking locals. It is not difficult to find nice restaurant with seafood.

It is always a great pleasure to approach Trieste by train. The experience hasn't changed much in 150 years. It is a highly recommended introduction to a vibrant city.
