A must see Basilica the inside and out are beautiful, especially on a hot day as it it a cool place to escape out of the sun.

This neoclassical style basilica is situated in the historical center of Rapallo along the Italian Riviera and originates from around 1118. What you see today, however, was reconstructed and transformed between 1606-1628 while the new apse was completed in 1679 and the choir extended in 1721. Went to mass there on feast day and very moving. The Church is charming and historic. The day we were there in the evening there was a procession and fireworks.

I was lucky enough to be here when the icon had been brought down from the Santuario di Montallegro. Try and visit when all the lights are turned on to appreciate the beauty of this basilica. Also watch the tower outside when the bell is ringing.
