We stayed in Bergamo Cittá Alta for a few days on this visit. We passed through this piazza many times during our visit and we're amazed how many different things we saw each time. Worth a visit

As you trudge up the narrow cobbled streets of Citta Alta after emerging from the first funicular, gazing at the charming shop windows along the way, you suddenly walk into an open plaza, giving a kind of relief! Restaurants, Gelato shops dot the small plaza...More

It has been conceived and used as the center of the life of the old city -Alta Citta- and it is impressive both through its old style buildings and fountain and through the large basilica located on one of its corners. One may find there...More

In the summer u can hide there in shadow. The place is the center of old town. Close to the Main Street with shops and places to eat:) the fountain in the center of square is a life savior with fresh water:)

Lovely main square, not too small, not too large, with bell tower tolling periodically. Some nice places to sit and drink/eat.

This hugely impressive town square (Piazza) is almost totally surrounded by restaurants and bistros. One can sit at these and watch the goings on for hours. The history surrounding the Piazza goes back centuries and it was wonderful to feel that one was actually sitting...More

Piazza Vecchia is very charming, actually by day or night but I loved it at night. There were street performers singing, street vendors, restaurants and lots of action. We enjoyed walking down to the piazza Vecchia several evenings during our stay.
