Worth a try

Amazing collection of antiquities and local history. Much larger than we expected with a great textile exhibit.

Went there for a visit to find out a bit more about Como. As museums go it's about average, boring in parts but interesting in others. It's not something I would do again. It costs 4 euros to enter and the building is very confusing and you go all over the place looking at the various things. Unfortunately you couldn't... More

The little museum - right in the old town - offers an interesting insight in the local history - even back to the roots of human history (the explications are unfortunately only in Italian), the part of the old Romans is worth a detour - not only on rainy days. The building is worth a visit itself: the architecture reveals... More

My friends and I passed by one day and it peaked our curiosity. So we did a quick read on what the Civico Museo offered and decided to go back and tour the facility. It was an eye opening visit. What we thought would be a small little museum turned out to be a wonderful visit, with beautiful and interesting... More

This is an interesting little museum with a very diverse collection of objects, but most of the descriptions are in Italian only. There is a section on Italian history, but since I'm not familiar with Italian history and I don't speak Italian, I didn't learn as much as I would have liked. The buildings that house the museums are interesting... More

Not too far within the old city walls is Piazza Medaglie d’Oro Comasche (the Square of Gold Medals), here are a number of lovely old houses, one of them houses Museo Garibaldi, another houses Civico Museo Archeologico Paolo Giovio. These museums are joined by a walkway and between them house a really interesting and diverse collection. There are objects that... More

This museum has so much to see and one moves through various buildings to see all the exhibits. The entrance fee is very reasonable and one is taken from prehistoric times to roman ruins and see alll kinds of interesting remnants of Como's colourful past.

Extensive collection of objects from local archaeological digs, from Neolithic times forward. Lots about smelting metals, the Bronze Age, the Iron Age, even a small section on the Neanderthals, and a reference to the Hittites who were actually the first to smelt steel! There's also an exhibit on the evolution of Roman houses, lots of coins and gemstones and jewelry,... More

Great museum to spend a rainy day; it is in a historic building, and has a bit of everything: Art, Culture, History, Crafts, etc.
