We visited the gardens of Villa Monastero and Villa Cipressi with a combined senior ticket for 13 euros. Varenna is an ideal town to explore Lake Como and these gardens will be the highlight of your visit if you have nice weather. The views of the lake are even more magical when seen from one of these gardens.

Graceful grounds under the stunning edifice of the Villa Cipressi, Varenna, Lake Como, are both calming and exciting at the same time. Draped along the waters of Lake Como, the gardens, easily accessible and only a few minutes walk from the Varenna town square, are a must for any traveler to the area. The staff were all cordial and quite helpful. Tip: Buy the Villa Cipressi Gardens and Villa Monestera combo ticket for the full Lake Como garden experience. Highly recommend this oasis for the senses. Enjoy!

Beautiful gardens set alongside the lake. When visiting Varenna, Lake Como you can't skip the two dominant villas here - Villa Monastero and Villa Cipressi (the grounds to the Hotel Villa Cipressi). You can buy a joint ticket for both. Whereas Villa Monastero you can visit the villa and the gardens at Villa Cipressi it's just the gardens. But still well worth a visit. it can be found just along from the tourist information office.

Very cute little town. We took a quick boat from Bellaggio. If you want to see Villa Cipressi garden it's 8eur pp. Varenna also has Villa Monastero - admission to its garden for a fee. We choose Villa Cipressi because it was closer. It was very gorgeous, we took plenty of photos, enjoyed beautiful lake view seating in a nice shade. Walk from ferry its very simple but its uphill so bring water with you. We went in September and still it was very hot and sunny. There is not so much shade there either. Also you can hike to Castello di Vezio to get beautiful view of the village but be aware it's very steep. It takes around 40 minutes. Also while walking you will see beautiful narrow streets, water views , little church and small stores & restaurants.
After that we hoped on other ferry to go to Menaggio. You can visit all of these places within a 1 day like we did.

If in Verena definitely make a trip to villa Caprisi gardens. They really are stunning and set right on the lake so provide the most beautiful views. I would spend some time here reading a book or taking in the surroundings it is that beautiful.

Dear Guests,
we are happy that you enjoyed your visit to our Botanical Garden!
After you purchase a ticket at the reception of Hotel Villa Cipressi, you can start to see a huge variety of colourful flowers and plants; you can then walk along the path inside the garden, where you can also take your time to observe the breathtaking view of the lake in complete relax!
Hope to see you again soon!

Along the shore of Lake Como, we thoroughly enjoyed this garden in Varenna. It is easy to explore via many pathways to all areas of the garden. We especially enjoyed the gates that opened out to the lake, what a romantic place for photos. Lots of flowers and greenery with shades, that's a must for a sunny and warm day.
It is adjacent to the Royal Victoria Hotel, we walked across the bridge and got to visit a gorgeous hotel and its grounds. Great morning to stroll around a beautiful place.

Beautiful grounds and setting for family to meander down to water. This would be a great way for couples to spend some time but not for young children and families. Lots of steep walkways and tripping hazards not to mention not stroller friendly. Some of the paths were off limits due to wedding which wasn’t disclosed at outset.

The trip to Lake Como is worth just to visit these gardens. We were warmly welcomed by Renzo at the entrance of the gardens.
What an amazing experience, the gardens are distributed on multiple levels making the walk interesting and not banal as in most historical gardens. The possibility of finding quiet spots to rest and observe the magnificent scenery is a plus.
Absolutely recommended!

Address confirm
Reservation made upon arrival in the village of Varenna around 10 am and fortunately because little room and lots of demand for this charming little place
Certainly it does not pay mine, very nice waiter, simple but good dishes with fresh products
Sufficient quantity
Worth a visit
At least one good address around the lake

This garden contains a wide variety of plants, trees, and shrubs, and much of it is well signed with descriptive markers. It was once part of the Serponti family estate, and evolved between the 1400 -1800’s. There is a significant amount of architecturally interesting hardscape including stairways and terraces.
We were staying at the Royal Victoria Hotel, the sister property to Villa Cipressi, so we had free entry. If you are only going to visit one garden, and must pay for your entry, in our opinion, Villa Monastero is a much better value.

Very easy. Make sure you do the Villa Monastero next door, have lunch at Cipressi and then walk a bit further to the world's shortest River!
