This huge garden has a wonderful collection of trees and shrubs and for any serious gardener or plantsperson, this is a must. It has a huge Cupressus cashmeriana which was blown down in a tornado, but brought back up by a crane (helicoptered in) and...More

We bought the 3 island boat trip for 15 Euros but that only gets you to the islands. We then bought the special price ticket which allowed us to visit the palaces on Isola Bella, Madre and the castle Rocca di Angera and Parc Villa...More

We went with a kid and managed to walk through the whole island pretty quickly. It's amazingly beautiful, historic and lovely. There are restaurants, little shops and just great views from the island. A must see!

It appears that the fewest tourists visit Isola Madre, which is a shame, since I think it is the prettiest and most impressive. First, the building is the oldest, and the furnishings are "simpler" (if a villa can be "simple") - it feels as those...More

Small even if it is the largest island in Major lake. You first walk around the place then you enter the castle. The garden as well as the house are very lovely and peaceful. We really enjoyed!

Elegant island with wonderful garden, quite magical if a little manicured, not a leaf out of place. Worth a visit together with The larger Bella island but this is more of a garden where as Bella a palace. Lots for kids with peacocks, birds and...More

The ferries are not very frequent, meaning the ticket office has long queues when people disembark. If you're short on time, book tickets in advance and show on your phone. This is a great island to wander around, and the house is very pretty with...More

we visited this island last, when doing the 3 Borromean Islands. It is a more informal style house and garden than Isola Bella, but just as beautiful in it's own way. The house has some very interesting exhibits, particularly the puppet theatre sets and puppets....More

I saw no signs restricting animals. But remember, this is a private home, albeit one that admits guests for a fee. I suspect you would be fine if the dog is on a lead, doesn’t bark, and, of course, you clean up after it. I... More

Regarding the quantity of visits it mainly depends on your own taste... I've been to all three and these are my insights: Villa Taranto is the largest and with the most variety of plants. Isola Bella has both a magnificent... More
