Small even if it is the largest island in Major lake. You first walk around the place then you enter the castle. The garden as well as the house are very lovely and peaceful. We really enjoyed!

Elegant island with wonderful garden, quite magical if a little manicured, not a leaf out of place. Worth a visit together with The larger Bella island but this is more of a garden where as Bella a palace. Lots for kids with peacocks, birds and...More

The ferries are not very frequent, meaning the ticket office has long queues when people disembark. If you're short on time, book tickets in advance and show on your phone. This is a great island to wander around, and the house is very pretty with...More

we visited this island last, when doing the 3 Borromean Islands. It is a more informal style house and garden than Isola Bella, but just as beautiful in it's own way. The house has some very interesting exhibits, particularly the puppet theatre sets and puppets....More

Loved it here so much because of the gardens- personally preferred to Isola Bella. More “informal” but beautiful colours and lots of trees too. Palace was quirky!

We combined all three Islands on one day - best to get to Isola Bella gardens first, as it gets busy, then over to Isola Pescartori for lunch, and Madre in the afternoon - its quieter, with sloping strolls through trees and gardens, with peacocks...More

We did not find the palace all that interesting other than some really creepy puppets, mannequins and dolls. The gardens were very nice. It was a pleasant stroll with a wide variety of plants, trees and peacocks.

I saw no signs restricting animals. But remember, this is a private home, albeit one that admits guests for a fee. I suspect you would be fine if the dog is on a lead, doesn’t bark, and, of course, you clean up after it. I... More

Regarding the quantity of visits it mainly depends on your own taste... I've been to all three and these are my insights: Villa Taranto is the largest and with the most variety of plants. Isola Bella has both a magnificent... More
