The pulsating core of Milan is in Centro. Duomo Square is enclosed by the gothic cathedral, the historic icon of Milan. However, shopping is what draws most crowds to this area. The classy and versatile Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II with luxury boutiques and high quality restaurants will turn any shopping or lunch expedition into a royal experience. Head to the rooftop of the flagship La Rinascente to enjoy the view of the animated square with a panorama of the Duomo. The Corso Vittorio Emanuele II is the street for high-end shopping. Brands of all kinds and street artists attract the attention of all visitors; while at Via Santa Radegonda 16, Luini Panzerotti is a much appreciated street food shop providing unimaginable culinary experiences. If shopping takes its toll on you, consider visiting Castello Sforzesco, a 15th century castle housing several museums. Those looking to relax can go to Parco Sempione, where nature provides respite from the energy of this dynamic and international city.

Very knowledgeable docents at the villa answered several questions I had about design issues and contradictions in the building and its furnishings that went beyond the objects and addressed the changes to mores in post-WWII Italy. 2. Amazing degree of preservation. 3. Remarkable number of original objects throughout the villa. Hard to imagine the trust/courage to allow the general public into such a site!Visited May 2024Travelled soloWritten June 15, 2024

I really enjoyed this. The Villa was completed by architect Piero Portaluppi in 1935 on behalf of the Necchi & Campiglio families. It is a beautifully preserved example of the home of an aspirational, wealthy family of the period. In contrast to Portaluppis' modern design is the Louis XV styling of architect Tomaso Buzzi who was invited post war to make changes. The Villa was bequeathed by the family to the FAI, a National Trust style organisation. The guides I believe, are volunteers & the gentleman assigned to give me the low down on the villa had excellent English skills & extensive knowledge. I was left to explore the further rooms, with guides on hand if required. It’s possible to download an English information guide onto your phone on arrival. It takes around an hour to look round & is very central. There is a sweet little cafe on site.

This lovely Art Nouveau villa is probably not on the Hit List of the first-time visitor to Milan, but it deserves to be. It is delightful - quiet and peaceful and full of beautiful objects and artefacts, all in the setting of a 1930s villa specifically commissioned from the architect Piero Portaluppi. And all in a lovely garden setting too. Very close to Palestro metro station.

Villa Necchi Campiglio is a classic home in the heart of Milan. It is reflects a period of yesteryear with period furnishing, lighting, etc. The gardens are splendid and the restaurant on the property is a pleasant respite from the hustle and bustle of the city.

This was the perfect setting to see good art in an intimate and interesting setting. If only going to see the villa, it's worth it. The details of paneling, flooring, structure are exceptional. While not an extensive collection art, there are good works, including Picasso.

During the first years of 1900 , the municipality of Milan decided to edificate this area that was the park of villa Serbelloni . The family Campiglio bought a part of this area and commissioned the project of their villa to the architect Piero Portaluppi .
He made a simple building inside the park.

This was one of the first ‘sightseeing ‘ activities we did on our first day in Milan, and what a wonderful experience it was. A magic introduction to the often much maligned Milano. After wandering the magnificent grounds of this 1930’s grand villa, we purchased our tour guide tickets and wandered inside. After accidentally joining an Italian speaking tour group for 10 minutes and understanding very little, we quickly found our English speaking guide who was terrific, informative and fun. (Supposedly all the guides are volunteers, and for that I want to say a big thank you). And what a beautiful interior; the workmanship, the design, the art and furniture were beyond exceptional, it was a step back in time to a time and place that doesn’t exist anymore. I wish we could have stayed longer, or at the very least, move in.

My friend suggested to visit and it was worth it.
I guess they make only guided tours which is a good thing because only then you can really get to know all the details in the house.
You only have to prepare that guided tours go in every hour or so but in the meantime you can wait in a little cafe in front of the house.
Its a really interesting and refreshing attraction for a change instead of ordinary museums.
The guided tour lasted for about an hour or so.

How did you secure tickets for Villa Necchi? Do you know what time English tours are held?
Written December 30, 2018
We bought the tickets at the gift shop but had the hotel concierge inquire about the time of the English guided tour.

Salve,
la Villa e’ visitabile anche da persone diversamente abili?
Ci sono scale o parti della Villa che risultano inaccessibili a persone in carrozzina?
Grazie

What is the cost of the guided tour? I could not find any info online regarding this. Thank you in advance!
Written March 12, 2018
I found your reviews very helpful. Can I get advance tickets to the Villa Necchi or was it easy to just go and purchase.
Interesting to note the tour is 1.5 hours.
Written March 6, 2018
i think that there are only guided tours , therefore better to book
Written March 7, 2018
Normalmente si. Credo che di recente abbiano promosso anche per un periodo di tempo la possibilità di visitarla, ti consiglio di vedere sul sito del FAI o contattarli direttamente.

Is the house only accessible with a guided tour? One of the reviews mentioned Sunday afternoons (times?) are possible without a guided tour - is this correct?
Written February 2, 2018
My experience is that there are tour times / limited number of people admitted but accessible. You might want to check when you arrive in Milan about accessibility (hotel concierge) but I think you can get in with ease....I don't remember having an issue and I've been twice.
