For sheer belle époque splendor, this extravagant 19th-century glass-topped, barrel-vaulted tunnel serves as a lively, noisy and colorful shopping mall, teeming with life and inviting you to people-watching from the tables that spill from the Galleria's many bars and restaurants.

The pulsating core of Milan is in Centro. Duomo Square is enclosed by the gothic cathedral, the historic icon of Milan. However, shopping is what draws most crowds to this area. The classy and versatile Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II with luxury boutiques and high quality restaurants will turn any shopping or lunch expedition into a royal experience. Head to the rooftop of the flagship La Rinascente to enjoy the view of the animated square with a panorama of the Duomo. The Corso Vittorio Emanuele II is the street for high-end shopping. Brands of all kinds and street artists attract the attention of all visitors; while at Via Santa Radegonda 16, Luini Panzerotti is a much appreciated street food shop providing unimaginable culinary experiences. If shopping takes its toll on you, consider visiting Castello Sforzesco, a 15th century castle housing several museums. Those looking to relax can go to Parco Sempione, where nature provides respite from the energy of this dynamic and international city.

If you are in Milano, the 2 things you must do are to visit the Duomo Square and see the Duomo and the Galleria right next to it. Of course there are 4 entrances but one of them is there. There are almost all the famous brand shops and restaurants in the Galleria but it is the architecture and design of the building that is so fascinating. The frescoes are also beautiful. It is very crowded in the weekends so plan a week day visit. The restaurants are expensive but you may want to splurge and eat in one of them.

This is one of Milan's 10 must-see sights. The place breathes luxury and glamour with natives well dressed, beautiful accessories and stylish couples. The most expensive guests are in this place and the restaurants are great and expensive, price to pay according to location and space. So, Vc is visiting the most expensive M2 in Milan, you have to pay the price. The architecture is stunning and a place for many photos since tourists are everywhere and with their cell phones in hand to not miss anything, including me....kkkk

We visited a few times here since this is a great meeting place. The best time to visit is early in the morning, if you want to see the beautiful architecture without hoards of tourists. It is simply stunning from top to floor. We walked to admire the mosaic floor.
In the afternoon, you will encounter lots of activities. We found a group of dancers under the dome.
When it is quiet, we got to do the tradition of spinning 3 times on the ball of the bull for good luck. Did not shop at the high end stores, since you can do that in just about any major cities around the world.
There are a lot of restaurants, cafes, ice cream parlor, etc in the galleria. We found them to be less charming and more expensive, so we did not dine here at all. It is definitely worth the visit. Perfect cost: FREE!

In recent weeks I have often visited the Gallery, especially in the early hours of the morning when it is not yet too crowded with tourists, who flock to it in droves even in this period of August. I will not talk about shops and restaurants, such and such is their notoriety. My interest, however, goes all to the aesthetic and artistic aspect of this place, authentic (although now trivialized) "living room of the city". And in fact I never miss an opportunity to admire its architecture, really prodigious and revolutionary for the time, and the very refined decorative apparatus, which almost leaves not even a meter of the walls without ornaments, friezes and statues. Looking up at the four heads of the Octagon it can be fun, especially for children, to observe and recognize the Continents (Europe, Asia, Africa, America), originally painted in fresco, then replaced with the imitation mosaics still present.
If you really want to capture in depth the "soul" of the Gallery - and, in a way, of the city - you can not miss a visit when it is deserted and silent, perhaps at first light or, why not, even earlier.

Since it was rebuilt in the mid-1950s after the disastrous bombings of 1943, "the Gallery" has never known a moment of rest. I can't even imagine how many people have passed through here in the last seventy years, obviously not counting the previous period, which began with its opening to the public in 1867.
For me too, the "quater pass in Galerìa" rituals began almost seventy years ago, perpetuating themselves over time and in the continuous change of habits and customs. Again this morning I passed through here to reach Piazza della Scala and Via Manzoni, stopping to observe a couple of shop windows and some imaginative menus on display, but above all the incessant flow of people, mainly made up of tourists and many school groups of all age.
An obligatory destination to begin the not easy but necessary understanding of our city.

The area can get very busy but if you head here first thing in the morning you can stroll through without there being tonnes of people especially as they currently have the big Dior Christmas tree up.
There are many high end shops and restaurants inside and you can also grab an ice cream from Savini a little takeaway ice cream shop. We picked up a small tiramisu gelato.

Frequently encountered in the Gallery, alone or with my wife, for the most diverse reasons. In this period, between lights and Christmas tree, it appears more glittering than ever, as well as hosting artistic and cultural events whose atmosphere you can breathe even from a distance. Perennially crowded with tourists and residents, the Gallery gives its best in the quietest and most silent hours, when it seems to whisper to the rare passers-by.

We strolled around this iconic place, but we didn't buy anything, limited ourselves to inspecting the interior decorations and of course the aesthetic Christmas trees, which year after year here are getting nicer. What's interesting is,
The project was originally named after Emperor Franz-Joseph, but was eventually named after King Victor Emmanuel II, as for the Italians he was the man who unified Italy.

Always an emotion to pass through the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele. Especially at this time of year you can breathe the Christmas that will come and the elegance of a city that has devolved over the year becoming a reference point of the country both from an economic point of view and as a model of modernity. Fantastic.

I passed once again, just yesterday morning, through the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II (which the Milanese only call "the Gallery"), it was always full of tourists and passers-by. I also traveled it in a transversal direction and not only from the Duomo to the Scala.
Always beautiful, she has an indescribable charm!
