The pulsating core of Milan is in Centro. Duomo Square is enclosed by the gothic cathedral, the historic icon of Milan. However, shopping is what draws most crowds to this area. The classy and versatile Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II with luxury boutiques and high quality restaurants will turn any shopping or lunch expedition into a royal experience. Head to the rooftop of the flagship La Rinascente to enjoy the view of the animated square with a panorama of the Duomo. The Corso Vittorio Emanuele II is the street for high-end shopping. Brands of all kinds and street artists attract the attention of all visitors; while at Via Santa Radegonda 16, Luini Panzerotti is a much appreciated street food shop providing unimaginable culinary experiences. If shopping takes its toll on you, consider visiting Castello Sforzesco, a 15th century castle housing several museums. Those looking to relax can go to Parco Sempione, where nature provides respite from the energy of this dynamic and international city.

    Huge Square
This is the main square of Milan. Two main structures that border the square are the Duomo and the Galleria Vittoria Emanuele II. There is also a statue of King Vittoria Emanuele II in the middle of the square. The Duomo subway station is near the statue of King Vittoria Emanuele II.

    Lovely place
Hello everyone, This place was sooo lively, lots of people, some playing music and an older couple was dancing. We just loved it. Lots of restaurants and coffee shops around. The shopping mall next to it too. This is a perfect place to visit and to have your hotel near by would be a plus 💯

    Happening place
Lot of people, most of them tourists and lots of things happening in the square. Musicians, people selling you things, tourist enjoying the beauty of Duomo, food stalls selling quick snacks and drinks. This is a lively place and a good place to sit and observe the life moving around.

Nice views of the duomo and vibrant area
We spent some time taking in the scene in the Piazza on a recent trip to Milan. This is a nice and vibrant area and it offers very nice views of the duomo. There are restaurants and shops on either side as well.

    Piazza del Duomo
The central square for tourists, because here is the magnificent Duomo. But besides him, there are other architectural creations that are no less interesting. For me personally, this square has long been associated with the New Year, because I choose it every time to celebrate the New Year. And every year there is a new creative tree).

    Heartbeat of Milan
Piazza Duomo is undoubtedly the heartbeat of the city where your Milan adventure begins. Given its central location right in the city centre, it is easily accessible by all manners of transportations. Most of Milan’s key attractions are located around the square, including the Duomo Cathedral, Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II shopping arcade and La Scala Theater. Excellent place to just walk around or people-watch while sipping your hot latte macchiato.

    Mad about Milan
I spent the week between Christmas and New Years Eve in Milan. I absolutely loved it. It is a great city for walking, difficult to go more than a few blocks without seeing some magnificent architecture. The Duomo does not disappoint in any way. I actually walked the 256 steps up to the top and the views are spectacular. Next time, though, I will take the elevator. LOL.

Expansive piazza in front of the Duomo and Galleria
My wife and I were in Milan for the purpose of viewing the Last Supper by da Vinci this summer. As soon as we viewed it, we walked over to the Piazza del Duomo. It is an expansive square in front of the Duomo and the Galleria. Being in the Piazza with all of the tourists is one of the things I enjoy most about Milan.

    The heart of Milan
The heart of Milan - the Piazza Duomo owes its current appearance to the architect Giuseppe Mengoni, whose project expanded the square to its current size in 1865-1873. Since that time, there have been only one fundamental changes - the monument to King Victor Emmanuel, installed at the end of the XIX century. By the way, it was Victor Emmanuel II who laid the first stone in 1865 for the construction of the gallery named after himself, which became the second landmark of the square. The gallery, which became an equally important place for Milan, was built by 1867. Unfortunately, during its construction, Mengoni died after falling from the scaffolding. Despite the importance of the gallery, the dominant feature of the square is the cathedral, which is the third largest in the world after Rome's San Pietro and Seville. The cathedral was built on the site of the early Christian Basilica of St.Thecla, where in 367 Bishop Ambrose of Milan baptized the father of the church, Augustine. Both they and the Virgin Mary and many other saints are depicted in thousands of sculptures of the Cathedral of Santa Maria Nascente. This time I managed to visit the roof of the cathedral, which offers a magnificent panorama of the Piazza Duomo. If climbing roofs is not part of your plans, then you can sit in a cafe in the leader of the Italian retail La Rinascente on the left side of the cathedral.

There were many destinations around the area. The plaza itself was always crowded and would not be nice if you stayed in the middle.
Just took some photos and bought the tickets and started to explore the destinations.

The church is very beautiful and a must visit while in Milan. Get there early before the crowds. Great for photography and shopping nearby with lots of restaurants and bars around.

Our tour guide was very flexible, helpful and knowledgeable. She even helped us get tram tickets. Seeing the Duomo Piazza and the Castellano were excellent.

The Piazza del Duomo is a great place in front of the Cathedral. The walk round the corner going into the piazza to see the cathedral for the first time is a great sight
