The area
Neighbourhood: Centro Storico
The pulsating core of Milan is in Centro. Duomo Square is enclosed by the gothic cathedral, the historic icon of Milan. However, shopping is what draws most crowds to this area. The classy and versatile Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II with luxury boutiques and high quality restaurants will turn any shopping or lunch expedition into a royal experience. Head to the rooftop of the flagship La Rinascente to enjoy the view of the animated square with a panorama of the Duomo. The Corso Vittorio Emanuele II is the street for high-end shopping. Brands of all kinds and street artists attract the attention of all visitors; while at Via Santa Radegonda 16, Luini Panzerotti is a much appreciated street food shop providing unimaginable culinary experiences. If shopping takes its toll on you, consider visiting Castello Sforzesco, a 15th century castle housing several museums. Those looking to relax can go to Parco Sempione, where nature provides respite from the energy of this dynamic and international city.

The name of this square was derived from the name Cors Ducis (Ducal court) which was located on the square during Longobard times .
The square is well know for its several neoclassical palaces all of them present in TripAdvisor reviews

This square is very specail because it's quite a symbol of Milan's vibrant existance. Great architecture all around and a splendid place to watch classic trams.

Very near Duomo.

All Milano trams "originate" from Piazza del Duomo, but Piazza Cordusio may be the tram central. As the transport hub of both tram and metro, Piazza Cordusio compensates its lack of photo-taking crowd of the Duomo with the many trams that pass through. Here, you will see perhaps every kind of trams that Milano has, including the lovely vintage trams and the sleek modern light-rail train! Stand here for even only a minute, and you will see so many trams passing by you.

People come and go too quickly here for people-watching, but if you are a transport geek like me, Piazza Cordusio's tram party is worth joining!

The square is named after the court of Lombardian dukes (“Curia Ducis”) that stood here in the 7th century. Today, it is a busy, commercial square, rounded by some of the most important business buildings of the city, Palazzo Broggi, Palazzo delle Assicurazioni Generali and Palazzo del Credito Italiano, among others.

Just a normal square in Milano. Only noticable thing are the large pavement stones, but they exists on many places.

Not an attractive place per se. Seems to be a significant conjunction point with tram lines and train stops. It is also the start of Via Dante which leads to Castle Sforza. There are a couple of buildings which have a semi circular front facing the piazza which are interesting.

The square and the pedestrianized street leading to it are beautifully decorated for the holidays.
