This was the most amazing time and the highlight of my trip! Chef Elena was masterful and held us to very high standards. I now have 3 wonderful recipes (gnocchi, spinach ravioli, caprese cake) to make at home! The Prosecco and wine was delightful. The gnocchi was so incredible it actually made me cry. The best food I had in Milan. My advice...make the time and take this cooking class. It will be a moment that makes memories!

My 12 year old daughter and I spent a magical evening with Aurora learning how to make 4 different Italian dishes from scratch. Aurora was so patient and helpful. She gave us lots of information and tips about Italian food that we will use at home! We were joined by two other guests and the group, together with Aurora and her husband Claudio, was lively and fun. Their hospitality towards us in their own home was so gracious and warm. The food was fantastic and the experience was unforgettable. This is a "must do" for anyone travelling to Milan. Aurora's classes are 4 hours including ample time to dine and she has several different menus she offers for cooking. I would do this again if I return to Milan. My daughter left that evening saying she wants to be an Italian chef and move to Italy!

Wow ! your daughter touched me ! She really enjoyed cooking class and she was very good to make everything. I still have in my fridge half tin of you marple sirup that I jealously guards for my middle night secret sweet break and I think about you and I really appreciated your gift, thank you. Let me know if she will keep going to cook! Caio from Aurora and Claudio

We recently got to enjoy and cooking lesson and dinner with Aurora & her daughter Lucrezia. We were a group of 6 traveling in Milan, and visited them on a Friday night. Not knowing what to expect, we were very surprised with the entire evening. We were joined by another 2 people, a mom and daughter also from the US. We all had a blast. Aurora & Lucrezia were so nice. They made us feel right at home and got us all preparing and cooking. We made fried zucchini flowers stuffed with mozzarella and anchovies. We made pasta (fettuccine with meat sauce, lamb roman style and panna cotta with strawberries for desert. After cooking we all sat down to what turned out to be a delicious dinner. We enjoyed wine and finished the night with lemoncello. We laughed and took some great photos and just had such a wonderful time. We would recommend this to anyone traveling in Milan.

My girlfriend and I booked this class for some local cooking fun. It was more than we expected! A true highlight of our Italy experience. We totally recommend it. There were 5 of us in the class with Elisa as our chef. We made 3 entrees and tiramisu. The hosts were welcoming and informative . This was truly a one-of-a-kind adventure.

I had high hopes for this place as the reviews have been pretty good. HOWEVER... when we got there Aurora had overbooked. We were a party of 6 however she was only expecting 3. As she had already taken our money she attempted to still make the evening work making us a very big group of 8.
Unfortunately the kitchen was small and there were too many of us so it turned into one person chopping, another stirring, another whisking etc, and not one person there had any idea how the whole recipe comes together.
Another issue that arose from being overbooked was that there wasn’t enough prosecco to go around. Prior to booking we were told the alcohol was unlimited however after finishing one glass of prosecco we were told it had run out and alcohol was only then provided once all the cooking was done! We also felt really rush when it came to eating dinner.. this may have been a result of al the time wasted by the overbooking (I was still eating my dessert when my plate and glass were picked up)
I’ve been to many cooking classes on holiday and in the UK before and this fell so short of expectations.
**(Please also note the class takes place in a small flat as opposed to a kitchen built for at least 6 people to cook together)

Dear Mr or Mrs..Hulk? I remember that cooking class . You booked through a tour operator and I mistaked the number of people sorry it can happen but you did the cooking class all of you anyway. I always had great reviews but thanks to you I must underline this points :
1) It was not a private cooking class and on my booking page it's wrotten up to 10 people.
2) We start the cooking class at 6 pm so if you are late you have lost something
3) This is not a professional cooking school so is not possible that everyone do everything,is not a professional kitchen
4) I take care that everybody learn to make his own portion of pasta and main course but we cannot do 8 sauces for 8 people
5) Prosecco is a welcome drink. DURING THE COOKING CLASS WE DO NOT DRINK AT ALL. You can have all your drinks after that, during the dinner
6) About my kitchen I will publish some pictures so the people can see how big is ( 120 square mete rof apartmen to cook and dine in different area)
7) The cooking class end at 10 pm, this is not a restaurant where you can stay to chat till midnight.
BU THE WAY...DID YOU LIKED WHAT YOU COOKED AND EATEN?..
Anyway thank to you constructive criticism so I will do better, ciao from Aurora

Aurora, who used to be a chef for many years and has recently started giving private cooking lessons, runs Cook and Dine in her own kitchen – what a treat! The smell of baking pumpkin that filled her home and the plate of salami with crackers that awaited on the kitchen table makes you wonder: Is it ok to dine before you cook? I thought long and hard over how to rate this class because I wanted to be fair and honest in my review. Because of this, and the fact that I noticed the owner of this business tends to become somewhat defensive to negative reviews, I will make this review a little longer than usual so I can properly explain why I gave the class the rating I did. My hope is that it will be taken as constructive criticism and not an insult, since the class was not bad, and I would still recommend it - it just isn't represented quite as accurately in most of the reviews as I feel it should be. There are a few things about the class that my husband and I found disappointing that were not mentioned in the numerous positive ratings, which might have been helpful to know before booking this class.
To start, I want to be clear that I understand this is not a professional cooking school and it is not a professional kitchen. My expectation going into the class was exactly as it was: a home kitchen in a private apartment. That was fine. I also understood going into the class that not every participant would be actively making every dish on the menu. Where my disappointment came in was the fact that there were a few dishes on the menu that my husband and I didn't learn how to make at all. Tasks for each dish were broken up amongst the students, which is understandable, due to time constraints, however, if one person is tasked with making the panna cotta while two other people are tasked with making two different types of dough, and the fourth person in the class is tasked with chopping vegetables... only one person actually learns how to make the panna cotta, and only the person making each individual dough learns how to actually make that individual dough... and the person chopping vegetables doesn't learn how to make any of those three things. Again, I understand this isn't a professional kitchen and it's not intended for everyone to do everything, but I have taken other cooking classes in private, not-professional kitchens where the chef does most of the work but everyone gets to watch, observe, and listen to a verbal explanation that will help the students understand the recipes we receive after the class is over. So everyone seeing how everything is made is still possible, even in a home kitchen. My husband and I were extremely excited about learning how to make panna cotta - only to be disappointed that we didn't even get to WATCH how it was made. We got to eat it, and it was delicious, but that was it. So we're hoping we can recreate it with the recipe, but it almost feels like we could have looked up a panna cotta recipe online and saved a little time and money since we didn't receive any personal information or tips or instruction on how to make it. So, for anyone planning to take this class, please be aware of this fact. You will get to eat all the dishes. You will not learn or even observe how to make them all.
As for the teacher, our chef for the evening was Chef Elena. She was very welcoming and nice, and seems like a very kind person who definitely knows how to cook, and cook well. My only complaint was more in her methods for teaching. My husband and I have a bit more experience in making many of the dishes offered, since we have taken several classes throughout Italy, however, the two other students in our class were new to all of the techniques and recipes. I felt bad for the other students in this regard because Elena didn't really take time to actually show them how to do certain things. If they were attempting to cut something and didn't do it right after a brief demonstration, she just walked in and took it from them, saying "no" and finished it for them without actually teaching them how to do it properly. She wasn't rude, so I'm not saying that. But it rang with a slight level of impatience that made us all a bit on edge. No one wanted to "fail" and have the job taken from them when we were only given so many opportunities to physically do something ourselves. Again, I understand time constraints, but we were not behind schedule and had plenty of time. Two extra minutes to walk them through a correction would not have set us back. I see some other reviews say she is extremely patient, so maybe this was just a bad night. But I can only rate the class based on what I experienced and observed during our lesson.
In the end, I found the class average. It was fun enough. The recipes weren't amazing, but they were enjoyable. I'm glad we did the class and I would recommend others to take it if you are in Milan and looking for something to do that might give some insight into cooking some traditional Italian dishes. Just be aware going into it that this isn't a cooking class in the same way that some other cooking lessons are. You basically have access to the kitchen, you'll get to learn how to roll some pasta dough, and possibly have a hand in one or two other parts of one or two other dishes. When you're done, you get to eat everything your group made, and the food is good, which makes the class worth the time. I just can't say I would go out of my way to take the class again if/when I find myself back in Milan. Sadly, I just didn't enjoy it as much as I wanted to - or as much as the other reviews led me to believe I would.

Dear Melissa I am Aurora chef owner of Cookandine. Your menu to cook was fettuccine hand made with bolognese sauce, potatoes gnocchi, panzerotti and panna cotta. It is true that none do everything : it is one pasta sauce for everybody, but you did your own portion of potatoes gnocchi, your own portion of fettuccine, your own panzerotto. For the other thing you are there to work together with others and you see everything, you are in the same rooms! You should do a private cooking class only for you. Referring chef Elena she is not working with us no more: now It is only me and my beautiful daughter Lucrezia, so the great great original family Cookandine is back! Anyway thank you for your review and the big amount of time you spent to write it!
Ciao from Aurora

We had the pleasure of meeting you with 5 other students on 9/27. A delight in learning how to make several dishes. Gnocchi, eggplant Parmesan, tagliatelle w bolognese sauce and tiramisu. Awesome. We had fun, met great people and enjoyed our session with you!

My wife and I love to cook. Part of our experience of our epic trip to Italy was to take a cooking class. This class appealed to us as it was an intimate setting. It was in Aurora’s kitchen! It was as described a cooking lesson. Like learning from a friend. Aurora was instructive, organized and split us up to make the meal: ABBACCHIO Lamb, Eggplant Parmigiana, and Ricotta and Spinach ravioli and Tiramisu. Except for the pre-cooking of the spinach we learned how to make it all! We used a good quality manual pasta machine and had so much fun we bought one when we got home. Aurora gave a pitch to make sure we bought quality one.
When all was finishing off. We were instructed to take off our aprons and go to the dining room. We sat down to a preset dining table and continued to visit with our fellow student. It was great to hear the stories we all shared of why we were in the class and what we were doing in Italy. It was just a very comfortable feeling. Then the food was served by Aurora each dish having a turn and what can I say it was delicious. We recommend this class for those looking for more than a classroom setting.
Sidebar: Aurora's paintings adorn the walls and is another treat for the eyes

Cooking with Chef Elena was definitely the highlight of our trip to Milan (it was that good!). Being Italian American myself made it even more special because I was too young to have been able to cook with my grandmother but we found out that chef Elena is from the same region in southern Italy as my grandmother, so there was an instant connection and this was an opportunity for us to learn how our favorite Italian dishes were made here in Italy.
We made potato gnocchi, tagliatelle bolognese, parmigiana eggplants, and tiramisu for dessert. There were five of us and Chef Elena was very careful to include everyone in the cooking experience. My daughter and her grandmother made the tiramisu, her boyfriend worked on mashing potatoes and making dough for the gnocchi while my sister started chopping ingredients for the bolognese sauce, and I cut and dipped the eggplant in egg and flour to get them ready for frying. We all got to make the pasta together and it was easy with Elena guiding us, although creating the perfect gnocchi did take some trial and error. I remember making home made pasta on Sundays with my mother and father as a young boy and thanks to Elena's excellent guidance, I feel that we can definitely do this at home. It was a true family affair and Elena told us about Italian traditions and gave us cooking pointers along the way. She is an excellent instructor, very patient, warm and inviting. You really don't need to know much about cooking, you just need to be willing to learn.
Bring your appetite because the meal was second to none. We had eaten gnocchi the night before at a popular Milan restaurant and ours was as good or better. The bolognese was better than we make at home due to the meat combination (we only use ground beef at home) and the individual parmigiana were delicious but delightfully not all vegetarian (not giving any secrets away). I can honestly say that our tiramisu was the best I have ever tasted. These recipes are awesome and I can't wait to try them at home.
When I tell people back home that I took a cooking class in Italy they are all jealous and this class lives up to all that is implied. This is home made Italian cooking at it's finest. I can whole heartedly recommend this to anyone who wants a unique Italian dining experience. As my grandmother would say, "Mangiare!"

Is the class OK for kids? Depends on the kid. I can tell you my wife and I participated in Aurora’s cooking class at her apartment (all other participants were adults) and it was the highlight of our time in Milan...and we truly loved everything about Milan. We made each dish from scratch and had a great time doing it. Not sure you can do it in 3 hours (I want to say the class from start to finish - arrival, intros, meal prep, cook time, dinner, and chit chat after - was closer to 4 hours...but I could be wrong). Whatever you decide, enjoy your time there. The Mrs and I Iook forward to returning one day and doing it all over again.
