A place to eat, and walk the narrow streets that lead on to a square and where the ferries arrive and depart for trips round the lake. Not a huge overwhelming town with places to eat and stay to suit every pocket. Charming and relatively...More

We spent five nights in Orta and fell in love with it, it was like a second honeymoon, The views are spectacular, the town itself is just beautiful and there are many lovely walks around the area. Some days we took our books, found a...More

My wife and I spent just one glorious day here during a week-long holiday over on Lake Maggiore - and it was the very best day of the holiday, so good that we're going to return and base our next holiday in the drop-dead gorgeous...More

The price was no different from that quoted by the holiday rep, and was on a more convenient day, pick up was almost opposite our hotel in Stresa. It was a circular tour around Mt Matterone, with a stop en route to see a huge...More

As the title suggests a stunning lake with gorgeous views but only limited places to see them. As in a lot of Italy there are private 'beaches' everywhere so little joy if you are just visiting.

Although very expensive and not a great deal to do. if you are looking for a romantic relaxing holiday this is the place to go. It is very expensive but well worth a vist.

Unspoilt scenery & architecture.... Lake surrounded by wooded hills. Visit the town of 'Orta S.Giulio' which is simply exquisite!

I don't want to praise this area too much as I want to keep it a secret.....This area is ideal for people who need some time space and calm to recharge their batteries...certainly no ClubMed!! Plenty to see and do and drink and eat......

We spent 3 hours wandering around San Giulio D'Orta. It is a delightful day excursion. Its one of the smaller less commercialised lakes in northern Italy. Unfortunately, due to a long lunch we had to skip a visit to the island of San Giulio but...More

It's a small lake but more intimate than the other lager lakes in the region. You can easily walk around in the town of Orta San Giulio, where everything is not commercialized yet. The scenic view of the island only worth the trip to here.
