I have been to the center of my town many times, but this is the first one that I found S. Domenico open. Another beautiful church, this one is one of the oldest churches in Turin and I believe, the only one that is Gothic. Unfortutenaly, also the church in Turin involved in the Inquisition. The inside contains multiple levels of reconstructions over the centuries, but on the walls, here and there, there are frescoes that that date back to the 13th century.

This beautiful church is not as ornate as other Catholic churches in Italy, but it is still impressive in its own way. Of notable interest - this is the church where Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati took his vows as a lay Dominican. A painting of the Blessed on one of the inside pillars shows him in a well-known pose - that of a hiker in the mountains. (Blessed Pier was quite athletic in his day.) Another item I found to be of interest in this church was a statue of St. Catherine of Siena laying on her side in a glass reliquary.
Although quite simple in design, this church is still worth the visit.

t was exciting to visit the only Gothic church in the city that is also considered one of the oldest. A wonderfully impressive facade of brickwork is the first view.
Inside the full vista of the Gothic was thrilling to see. The central nave leads to an exquisite high altar area with lovely marble and sculptured figures. Some impressive paintings add to the attractive features.
The Gothic continues in the serene side aisles. A number of attractive chapels are placed here.

The Church of San Domenico was founded in 1216 and the church was reconstructed many times since then. There are several altars with good paintings. There is a very good sculpture of the Virgin and Child.

The church of San Domenico was built during the 14th century and is one of the rare examples, if not perhaps the only one, of Gothic style religious buildings in the city. The church is located on the historic center level and has a sober brick façade and interiors, although much remodelled, of discreet artistic and architectural interest. Divided into three naves, it has a series of altars against the left wall. The fourteenth-century frescoes that entirely cover the Chapel of the Graces, to the left of the main altar, are very beautiful. More recent is the Rosary chapel, closing the right nave, built during the eighteenth century and among whose decorations the altarpiece attributed to Guercino stands out. A church that certainly deserves a visit inside and that I personally appreciated very much. Free admission.

A church with a sober and regular exterior, in a small street in the city.
It is unfairly highlighted.

Even if it is among the oldest religious buildings in Turin, the various alterations as well as an anonymous façade combined with very sober interiors do not make it particularly appealing from an architectural point of view.
